LOS ANGELES, CA – September 5, 2024 – Stagecoach is thrilled to announce their 2025 lineup. Country music’s biggest festival will be back in the saddle April 25-27, 2025. This year’s festival will feature headline performances from country music legends in the making Zach Bryan, Jelly Roll, and Luke Combs in addition to performances by Brothers Osborne, Sturgill Simpson, Midland, Lana Del Rey, Nelly, Carly Pearce, Shaboozey, Goo Goo Dolls, Tucker Wetmore and DASHA and many, many more. The festival will see iconic late-night performances by Stagecoach first timers Backstreet Boys and Creed, while T-Pain returns after a guest appearance at last year’s festival for a full set of his own.

Passes go on sale starting this Friday, September 13 at 11 am PT at stagecoachfestival.com.

Returning headliner Luke Combs shared his excitement saying, “Super pumped to be coming back to headline Stagecoach. It was one of the most memorable parts of the year when we did it in 2022, so really glad they’re having us back for round 2. We’re gonna have a blast.”

First time headliner Jelly Roll also said, “Last year I got to play Stagecoach for the first time and it was incredible. And I didn’t just get to play. I got to hang out as a fan of artists I love and take my daughter to see some of the best entertainers in our format. Coming back to headline Stagecoach this year is a dream-but I’ll be attending as a fan this year as well, so get ready. See you in April.”

Fan-favorite Guy Fieri’s Stagecoach Smokehouse is back again for its sixth year to reveal new chefs, pit bosses and BBQ vendors. Guy and friends will be showcasing their pits and rigs and offering taste tests to fans throughout the weekend. “Every year I’m shocked that the Stagecoach lineup can get that much bigger and badder,” says Guy. “...so I gotta step it up and do the same for my Stagecoach Smokehouse! Come on down to the Smokehouse to see your favorite artists cookin’ it up with me and my crew. You’re not gonna wanna miss it!" Stay tuned for the full food line-up and to find out which artists Guy will be doing cooking demos with this year.

Returning to the festival for a fourth consecutive year are California’s homegrown, Compton Cowboys. They are a crew of ten Black horseback riders whose ranch is one of the very last in a semirural town in Compton called Richland Farms -- and they are bringing their horses to Stagecoach to tell their compelling story of community engagement and share in the experience.

Late Night at Stagecoach keeps the party going! T-Pain (Friday), Creed (Saturday), and Backstreet Boys (Sunday) will close each evening of the festival for Late Night in Palomino, and for the third year in a row, Stagecoach mainstay Diplo will be bringing some of the biggest names in dance music to Diplo’s HonkyTonk.

New Music: Dr. John, Rhett Miller, Doug "Cosmo" Clifford with Bobby Whitlock, Nikki Lane

A remarkable finale, an unearthed lost treasure and several new studio releases make for great listens.

Artist:
Dr. John
Title: Things Happen That Way (Rounder Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Dr. John, Leon Russell, Willie Nelson
Tell me more: At once a genre-defying artist and the very sonic definition of New Orleans' timeless sound, Malcolm "Mac" Rebenack, Jr. — better known as Dr. John — had long spoke about wanting to record a county and western album to pay homage to the songwriters and music makers whose songs had touched him. Rebennack was in the midst of realizing that dream when a heart attack tragically ended his life on June 6, 2019. The Grammy-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Famer who had masterfully fused soul, R&B, funk, rock and blues since the 1950s was only 77.  The good news is that the resulting posthumous masterwork Things Happen That Way (released via Rounder Records on Sept. 23) showcase those final recordings and fully celebrate Dr. John's groundbreaking six-decade-long recording career. The range of material stretches from a wistful take showcasing his distinctive vocals and piano playing on Willie Nelson's "Funny How Time Slips Away," an urgent reading of Hank Williams' 1951 classic "Ramblin' Man" and a playful take on the Traveling Wilburys' "End of the Line" (the latter bolstered by Aaron Neville's vocals) to his own co-writes with famed guitarist Shane Theriot ("Holy Water," "Sleeping Dogs Best Left Alone," "Give Myself a Good Talkin' To"). Willie Nelson joins Dr. John on a R&B-flavored take of the traditional "Gimme That Old Time Religion." The album's closing title track (written by Jack Henderson Clement) is poignant, elevated by Dr. John's rich baritone and sparse piano work. Currently available on audio CD and digitally, Things Happen That Way will be released on vinyl on Oct. 14. Information: Rounder.com.

Artist:
Rhett Miller
Title: The Misfit (ATO Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Old 97's, Wilco, John Lennon, Tom Petty
Tell me more: A notable departure from his work with Dallas, Texas' alt-country favorites Old 97's and previous solo work, singer-songwriter Rhett Miller's ninth solo album The Misfit is a rich hybrid of psychedelic pop, indie folk rock and cosmic dream-pop bound by probing songcraft. The confessional "Follow You Home," evocative psychedelic rocker "Heart Attack Days," rootsy ballad "Already There," shimmering "Just When It Gets Good," luxurious "Fascination," reflective "The White Tops" and ardent piano-anchored "Let Me Go There With You" are among the great cuts that find Miller at the top of his game. Information: RhettMiller.com.

Artists:
Doug "Cosmo" Clifford with Bobby Whitlock
Title: California Gold (Cliffsong Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Doug "Cosmo" Clifford, Bobby Whitlock, Derek and the Dominos, Deep Purple's "Burn"
Tell me more: Who knew that following the breakup of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Derek & The Dominos, a principal member from each of those illustrious troupes would join forces to write and record a killer full-length album that was never released — until September 2022. CCR drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford and Derek & the Dominos singer-keyboardist Bobby Whitlock were joined by bassists Donald "Duck" Dunn and Tom Miller, as well as guitarists David Vega and Mike O'Neill on the previously-unissued California Gold. Recorded at the infamous Cosmos Factory and other area Bay Area studios, the 12-track disc will definitely appeal to fans of classic '70s blues rock outfits such as Humble Pie,  Grand Funk Railroad and the Doobie Brothers. The terrific track listing includes the aptly-titled "Good Times," bluesy "Get Down Fever," soul music mining "It's Always Darkest Before The Dawn," hard-edged "Do Or Die" and soaring "I'm Happy Just Being Alive." My favorite original on the album is the driving "Purple Mountain," an enticing six-minute rocker bolstered by sublime lead guitar work, deft drumming from Clifford along with Whitlock's signature lead vocals and keyboard playing. Information: DougCosmoClifford.com.

Artist:
Nikki Lane
Title: Denim & Diamonds (New West Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Loretta Lynn, Kasey Chambers, Nikki Lane
Tell me more: In the wake of the arrival of the global pandemic a parade of talented artists have issued probing and powerful albums that reflect a singular moment in time when the world was seemingly stopped in its tracks. Add Nikki Lane's name to that list of musical greats issuing a standout album over the past year or so. Denim & Diamonds is a wonderful leap forward for the Nashville-based songstress, with a blend of roots rock, Americana and alt-country showcased across the 10-track disc. The album was completed at a unique point just after the last days of Lane's extended tour in support of her 2017 album Highway Queen and after the beginning of the lockdown forcing everyone indoor. Lane enlisted famed Queens of the Stone Age leader Joshua Homme to help bring her vision to life. The melodic "First High" with its undeniable chorus, haunting alt-country ballad "Faded," rousing roots rocker "Born Tough" and defiant "Try Harder" are among the early standouts on the wonderful album. The tender "Live/Love," lusty "Black Widow" and haunting closer "Chimayo" continue the album's firm reach in its last half. Information: NikkiLane.com.

New Music: Neil Young, Rick Shea, Devin B. Thompson, Rachel Brooke

Fantastic new albums featuring Neil Young, Rick Shea, Devin B. Thompson and Rachel Brooke are worthy additions to every music lover's library.

Artist:
Neil Young
Title: The Times (Reprise)
You might like if you enjoy: Neil Young, Michael Ubaldini, Bob Dylan
Tell me more: One of music's most prolific and gifted singer-songwriters/multi-instrumentalists, Neil Young is back with a solo acoustic performance recorded during the pandemic. As sparse and stripped down as any official release in the 74-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's massive discography, The Times is powerful and deeply affecting. There are timely covers of some of his beloved classics including a pensive "Alabama," probing "Campaigner," rootsy "Ohio," countrified "Southern Man" and tender "Little Wing" (a new version of a track featured on his recent "Homegrown" release) as well a cover of Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin'," the latter bolstered by particularly tender harmonica embellishments. This being the political season, Young's biting newly-penned "Lookin' For A Leader" is particularly resonant. Information: NeilYoungArchives.com.

Artist:
Rick Shea
Title: Love & Desperation (Tres Pescadores Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Dwight Yoakam, Fletcher Harrington, Merle Haggard
Tell me more: Armed with a great batch of songs, a deep baritone and stylish approach, singer-songwriter Rick Shea explores the here and now on his wonderful 12-track Love & Desperation. Those turned off by contemporary country music's collective shift to indulging formulaic cliche will be particularly taken with Shea's authentic and moving song craft that recalls legends ranging from Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard to Dwight Yoakam. The laid-back "Blues at Midnight" is soaked with melancholy, Shea's voice going deep amidst the artful expanse. The wistful "She Sang of the Earth" — co-written with Kim Ringer — is a beautiful original at its core and further enhanced by Jim Shirey's fiddle and Shea's own textured mandolin. Just as lovely is the Americana ballad "A Tenderhearted Love" and flowing instrumental "Mystic Canyon." Elsewhere, Shea kicks it up for the infectious "Big Rain Is Comin' Mama," the Texican rock and roll delight "Texas Lawyer," and a cover of the Al Ferrier rockabilly tune "Blues Stop Knocking' at My Door." Information: trespescadores.com.

Artist:
Devin B. Thompson
Title: Tales of the Soul (Severn Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Tower of Power
Tell me more: Chicago soul singer-songwriter Devin B. Thompson summons the magic and treasure trove of 50's and 60's soul on his wonderful new album Tales of the Soul. Thompson's top-tier lead vocals bring emotion and might to the mix of songs. The rhythmic dance tune "Back Together" finds Thompson's smooth vocals soaring amidst an in-the-pocket rhythm and sizzling horn section. "Get Home Tonight" uses jazzy overtones and luxurious horns to help fuel an artful push. There is even a reggae-tinged original, "I Ain't No Good," a catchy song where Thompson's self-deprecatory refrain is echoed by a sleek chorus of singers. This being a bona fide soul album, just listen to the artist's poignant vocals on "Can't Get Over You," "Time After Time" and "Tell Me." The soulful "I'm Gonna Cry a River" and uptempo "Read Your Mind" are lifted by the fretwork of guitar master Robbin Ford. Information: severnrecords.com.

Artist:
Rachel Brooke
Title: The Loneliness In Me (MAL Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Whitney Rose, Nikki Lane, Loretta Lynn
Tell me more: There is a growing field of talented artists who have rediscovered the magic of traditional country music and are learning to make it their own. Rising songstress Rachel Brooke's new album The Loneliness In Me fuses the winning sounds of greats such as Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette with a modern-day sensibility that has rightfully drawn accolades from a growing number of country music aficionados. Across The Loneliness In Me the theme of loss takes center stage to glorious effect. "Picture On The Wall" finds her reflecting that the framed image is "The nasty memory of my downfall." Not long later she sings "It Won't Be Long before uou sing my song" on one track, and "The Ghost of You comes back to me when I dream" on another nugget. In addition to the sweeping power of Brooke's evocative song writing and signature soprano there is a super field of players who back her on the disc including pedal steel great Dave Feeny (Loretta Lynn's "Van Lear Rose"), electric guitarist Michael Cullen, fiddler Liz Sloan, drummer Aaron Graham and pianist Jarrod Champion. Sounds abound on must-have sets

With the passing of rock 'n' roll founding father Little Richard on May 9, now is the perfect time to celebrate his vast legacy via an essential 3-disc set of his most important tracks. A highly-rewarding return from country singer-songwriter Pam Tillis, the latest album from genre-busting songstress Tami Neilson and a demos collection from the late John Stewart are well worth celebrating as well...

Artist: Little Richard
Title: Directly From My Heart: The Best of the Specialty & Vee-Jay Years (Specialty Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Little Richard, early Beatles, Fats Domino
Tell me more: Listening to the wide-ranging 2015 Little Richard collection Directly From My Heart: The Best of the Specialty & Vee-Jay Years is to be transported to rock 'n' roll's earth-shattering infancy. Little Richard is heard on 64 tracks spanning 1956 to 1965, singing poignant ballads such as the bluesy "Wonderin'," dynamic "Without Love" and R&B standout "Maybe I'm Right," as well as songs mining Mississippi blues ("Goin' Home Tomorrow") and the Memphis sound ("I Don't Know What You've Got But It's Got Me"). Along the way Richard is featured tackling soul – notably "I'm Just a Lonely Guy (All Alone)" and "You Better Stop." But the parade of hits featured across the seminal three-disc collection is the box set's ace play, with timeless rockers such as "Tutti Frutti," "Kansas City," Ready Teddy," "Rip It Up" "Long Tall Sally" and "Lucille" resonating with the force of the ages. Information: ConcordMusicGroup.com.

Artist: Pam Tillis
Title: Looking for a Feeling (Stellar Cat Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Rosanne Cash, Grace Potter, Lorrie Morgan
Tell me more: Pam Tillis brings her wonderful soprano and exceptional songwriting talents to her 11th studio album Looking for a Feeling. The dozen tracks reveal themselves to the listener via a rich soundscape spanning from potent highs to artful restraint (notably the gorgeous Joe Pisapia-penned "Better Friends" and her own "Last Summer's Wine"). On the aptly-titled "Dolly 1969" Tillis uses a mix of spoken word and playfully-sung vocals to pay tribute to one of her earliest music heroes; the simmering bluesy country rocker "Demolition Angel," ballad "My Kind of Medicine," shimmering styles-blending gem "Burning Star" and disc-ending Americana-soaked instrumental "Better Friends Reprise" additionally showcase the depth of the album. Honored in 1994 with the Country Music Association's "Female Vocalist of the Year," Tillis' voice is elevated amidst a talented parade of players including guitarist Pat Buchanan, keyboardist Jim Moose Brown, steel master Dan Dugmore and others. Information: pamtillis.com.

Artist: Tami Neilson
Title: CHICKABOOM! (Outside Music)
You might like if you enjoy: Wanda Jackson, Nikki Lane, Peggy Lee
Tell me more: Able to blend rockabilly, soul, Western swing, country and early rock 'n' roll into something decidedly her own, Tami Neilson has a large voice able to navigate and master those styles and more on her most recent full-length release CHICKABOOM! Neilson's booming soprano is used in the service of 10 songs that make for a fun and involving listen. The rock 'n' soul kiss-off "Call Your Mama" kicks things off with a bang. There is a playful and welcome devil-may-care spirit enhanced by Neilson's delivery and sharp lyrics. The catchy "16 Miles of Chain" has an early '60s vibe," as does the beautiful duet "Any Fool With a Heart" where she shares lead vocals with her brother Jay Neilson. The explosive gospel-meets-soul "Sister Mavis" and dreamy cowboy western stylings of "Sleep" close out this inspired affair. Information: tamineilson.com.

Artist: John Stewart
Title: Old Forgotten Altars: The 1960s Demos (Omnivore Recordings)
You might like if you enjoy: Buddy Ford Stewart, the Kingston Trio
Tell me more: A collection of demo recordings captured by master singer-songwriter John Stewart when he transitioning from his role as a member of the Kingston Trio to a solo career are featured on a fantastic new collection. Old Forgotten Altars: The 1960s Demos features 18 tracks recorded between 1965 and 1968, including three duets with Buddy Ford Stewart along with a bonus track recorded at his home in 1959. John Stewart — perhaps best known as the writer of the Monkees' "Daydream Believer" — displays a stellar command of song craft across this set, all the more amazing given these are mostly acoustic-styled demo recordings featuring a basic presentation of vocals and acoustic guitar. The songs are uniformly strong and affecting; high points include the lovely "Children of the Morning" (which did wind up as the title track on a Kingston Trio 1966 LP), lovely "The Pirates of Stone County Road," literate "One Tiny Grain of Sand," previously-unheard song "July, You're a Woman" and enthralling "Big Sur." Particularly powerful is "Lock All The Windows," whose acoustic ascent is as majestic as it is sparse. Insightful liner notes and archival photos fill a wonderful 12-page booklet that comes with the title. Information: OmnivoreRecordings.com.
