Media release - 'Ella Fitzgerald: Just One Of Those Things' Virtual Cinema release starts June 26

Eagle Rock Entertainment presents a virtual cinema release of

'Ella Fitzgerald: Just One of Those Things'

~STARTING JUNE 26, 2020~
~TICKETS AVAILABLE HERE

New York, NY (June 4, 2020)--This summer, Eagle Rock Entertainment is delighted to announce the virtual cinema release of Ella Fitzgerald: Just One Of Those Things -- the much heralded, critically acclaimed documentary about the one-and-only “First Lady Of Jazz.” Tickets and trailer available now at Eventive.
Originally scheduled to be released this past April in cinemas nationwide, the theatrical run of Just One Of Those Things was cancelled due to COVID-19. Now, Eagle Rock invites movie lovers to see the film from home, even while supporting their local movie theaters. TV viewing apps are also available for AppleTV, Roku and AndroidTV.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Leslie Woodhead and produced by novelist Reggie Nadelson, Ella Fitzgerald: Just One Of Those Things reveals an intimate history of a beloved icon. Featuring never-before-seen footage, the film includes interviews with Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Itzhak Perlman, Norma Miller, the late Andre Previn, and a rare conversation with Ella Fitzgerald’s son, Ray Brown Jr.
Ella Fitzgerald is a cherished American figure: her brilliant singing included unsurpassed scat vocalizations. She covered most of a century, excelling in Swing, Pop, Bebop and redefined the Great American Songbook. Her tenacity allowed her to break barriers and chart a powerful course as a woman of color in the male-dominated music business. She fought for Civil Rights. She earned 13 Grammys, the NAACP Equal Justice Award, and the American Black Achievement Award, among others, and sold over 40 million albums throughout her six-decade career.
Ella Fitzgerald: Just One Of Those Things gives viewers a chance to get to know and understand Ella. Losing her mother at the age of 15, Ella endured life in an abusive reform school before escaping to the streets of Harlem. Penniless and alone during The Great Depression, her fate changed in 1934, after she won one of the first amateur nights at the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem. She made a brilliant career even as she suffered racism, poverty, sexism. Ella, as everybody knew her, was the rare female bandleader when she was only nineteen. She worked with Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, and Benny Goodman. But like so many professional women, she struggled to reconcile her role as a world-famous performer and her private life. Married to Bebop’s innovative bassist Ray Brown, she didn’t have the time to enjoy a domestic life with him and their son, Ray, Jr. Throughout the documentary, we follow Ella as she endures these conflicts -- her trials and her triumphs -- gaining a clearer music of this woman, and what fueled her timeless voice.
Now, in these trying times, Ella’s spirit resonates more than ever. As stated in this clip by Tony Bennett in the film, “She never made a political statement except the one that I heard her say... was only three words, and it was the most complete definition of the ignorance of the world and the way they treat African Americans. She said ‘Tony, we’re all here.’ In three words, she said the whole thing.”
“Her Majesty’s reign in jazz warmly celebrated”

“This profile explores the jazz great’s extraordinary journey across give decades, covering some of the most tumultuous years of American history.”

New music: 'Frank Sinatra Collection,' Chris Fullerton, GospelbeacH, John Williams & Simone Pedroni

A mix of old and new treasures play out via several legendary television specials featuring many of the greatest singers of the 20th century, a collaboration between composer John Williams and classical pianist Simone Pedroni, and two new albums featuring outstanding emerging artists.

Title: The Frank Sinatra Collection; The Timex Shows Vol. 1 & Vol. 2
You might like if you enjoy: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Lena Horne, Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, Ella Fitzgerald
Tell me more: The four hour-long episodes that play out across volumes 1 and 2 of "The Frank Sinatra Collection" are true time machines. Volume 1 features two episodes of the Sinatra series, including the first episode broadcast on Oct. 19, 1959 and featuring guests Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and Mitzi Gaynor. The second episode (broadcast in late 1959) is highlighted by several appearances by legendary singer Ella Fitzgerald, including the beautiful "There's a Lull in My Life."

Kicking off the second volume is an early 1960 episode titled "To The Ladies" featuring Sinatra joined by guests Lena Horne, Mary Costa, Juliet Prowse and former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. The final episode serves as a tribute to Elvis Presley, with Sinatra and a cast of notables welcoming home Presley when he returned from his U.S. Army service in March 1960. But that episode also features Ol' Blue Eyes delivering a stirring live version of "Witchcraft" while Sammy Davis Jr. sings "Come On Bess" from "Porgy and Bess"; the show comes to a dramatic close with several performances featuring the King of Rock and Roll including Sinatra and Presley joining forces for a medley "Witchcraft" and "Love Me Tender." The comedy and music across the two discs is top-rate, and the episodes really serve as a time machine for the style of musical variety programming that graced the airwaves in television's formative years. Artist: Chris Fullerton
Title: Epilepsy Blues (Eight 30 Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Corb Lund, Michael Ubaldini, Townes Van Zandt
Tell me more: Austin-based singer-songwriter Chris Fullerton is the rare modern-day artist able to tap into the traditional sounds personified by Hank Williams and Hank Snow while delivering wry and insightful lyrics that capture life's myriad of of challenges and joys in the here and now. The title of Fullerton's new album Epilepsy Blues is not merely a clever phrase; Fullerton has epilepsy and that reality informs many of the songs on the 10-song disc. "Bad Winds" is delivered with minimal accompaniment, Fullerton's deep baritone deciphering the pain of dark places; the title track chronicles the struggles of his condition, including enduring epileptic seizures as he sings: "The first time's bad but the second time it's worse / the third time's sad and the fourth time it just hurts / but it's all downhill from there, it don't get no worse." Elsewhere the magic of life plays out in sharp contrast to the bad times. The sparse "Float On Up & See" is as beautiful and affecting as any love song released in memory, and the acoustic ballad "Come On In" is almost equal to that master stroke with its quiet power. Information: chrisfullerton.com.

Artist: GospelbeacH
Title: Another Summer of Love
You might like if you enjoy: Dawes, Simon and Garfunkel, Tom Petty, Beachwood Sparks
Tell me more: While it has been 50 years since the original Summer of Love enraptured the world in 1967, the Brent Rademaker-fronted troupe GospelbeacH conjures up that mythical season on its aptly-titled disc Another Summer of Love. With a shimmering sound that recalls the Laurel Canyon sound of the late 1960s and early 1970s, Rademaker's pleasing voice and acoustic guitar is adorned with lush arrangements that make for folk rock that is melodic and ambitious. The breezy "In the Desert," driving "California Fantasy," alt country-spirited "You're Already Home" and "The City Limits," and Byrds-meets-Tom Petty gem "(I Wanna See U) All the Time" featuring Jason Soda's 12-string guitar textures. Other musicians whose notable contributions help create the beautiful soundscape that helps define Another Summer of Love include keyboardist Jonny Niemann, drummers Derek Brown and George Sluppick, bassist Ben Reddell, backup singers Miranda Lee Richards and Pearl Charles. Information: Alive-Records.com.

Artists: John Williams, composer; Simone Pedroni, piano
Title: John Williams: Themes and Transcriptions for Piano (Varèse Sarabande Records)
You might like if you enjoy: John Williams, Simone Pedroni
Tell me more: Composer John Williams and famed classical pianist Simone Pedroni have joined forces for one of the more interesting and successful collaborations in memory. Williams and Pedroni each transcribed about half of the pieces included on John Williams: Themes and Transcriptions for Piano, with Williams' own piano suites from his "Lincoln" and "The Book Thief" among the highlights. All of the piano-only arrangements dazzle thanks to Pedroni's incredible talents at the Steinway Concert Grand piano. Fans of Williams' enduring "Star Wars" and "Harry Potter"-related scores, as well as his soundtrack for "Schindler's List" and others will find this a dynamic listening experience allowing Williams' timeless compositions to be rediscovered. Legends and upstarts impress on new titles

Several bona fide legends are featured on new must-own DVD/Blu-ray and audio CD titles, while several under-the-radar releases will also awe discerning listeners.

Artist: The Rolling Stones
Title: Olé Olé Olé! A Trip Across Latin America (Eagle Rock Entertainment)
You might like if you enjoy: The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger
Tell me more: One of the most interesting and insightful rock 'n' roll documentary films in memory, director Paul Dugdale's OlĂ© OlĂ© OlĂ©! A Trip Across Latin America chronicles The Rolling Stones' historic 2016 tour through 10 Latin America cities. This is a multi-layered film; while the obvious focus of the documentary is to champion the legendary British band's legacy and the complex bond shared between the members of the group, the film provides a simultaneous look at the challenging logistics of setting up a free concert in Cuba amidst an ambitious tour attracting massive and adoring audiences from Argentina north to Mexico. The film is beautifully shot and really captures the colorful places and people throughout the Rolling Stones' tour. In addition to the full-length film, bonus features on the title include seven full-length performances caught along the way including an incredible version of "Out Of Control" in Buenos Aires, Argentina and free wheeling "Miss You" delivered in Lima, Peru. Information: eagle-rock.com.

Artist: Little Steven
Title: Soulfire (Wicked Cool Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Bruce Springsteen, Tommy Castro, Little Steven
Tell me more: When you're a member of Bruce Springsteen's acclaimed E Street Band, have been busy acting in several great TV dramas ("The Sopranos," "Lilyhammer") and also hosting the popular "Little Steven's Underground Garage" syndicated radio show since 2002, it's easy to see why Steven Van Zandt hasn't released a new studio album in more than 15 years. But heck, it sure is great to hear the singer-songwriter-guitarist back on the aptly-titled Soulfire. The songs here explode with soul, rhythm and blues and the groundbreaking sounds that influenced the rocker in his youth. The title track has Little Steven's raspy vocals perfectly tuned to the soulful rocker's clarion call; "I'm Coming Back" is a lush and lovely reminisce of the past that is bolstered by some creative guitar play and wonderful backing gospel vocals. Lovers of Southern blues will be swept up by the rousing cover of "Blues is my Business," while a tinge of garage rock helps fuel the R&B delight "I Saw the Light." He even even revisits the sounds of vocal harmonies-centered '50s Doo-wop on the winning "The City Weeps Tonight." Little Steven and long-time friend Springsteen co-wrote "Love On the Wrong Side of Town," a gorgeous tale of romantic loss adorned with symphonic textures layered atop of Little Steven's emotive vocals. Information: universalmusicenterprises.com or LittleSteven.com.

Artist: Bad Company
Title: Live in Concert 1977 & 1979 (Rhino)
You might like if you enjoy: Paul Rodgers, Free
Tell me more: During Bad Company's initial run from 1973 to 1982, the British outfit was a true rock 'n' roll juggernaut scoring hit singles and albums, and filling stadiums on both sides of the Pond. Yet the majority of fans of the supergroup's potent live shows from that period have had to rely mostly on memories or bootlegs to revisit the power of those concerts. Rhino Records' release of Bad Company's Live in Concert 1977 & 1979 is an epic audio CD release featuring two full-length shows with the group's original lineup of singer Paul Rodgers, guitarist Mick Ralphs, drummer Simon Kirke and bassist Box Burrell. Disc one features Bad Company performing in Houston, Texas in May 1977, while the second disc includes a concert recording taped in Wembley, London in 1979 (and an additional track, a terrific version of "Hey Joe" recorded in Washington, DC that same year). Across the two discs, the band delivers epic versions of their best-known material ("Burnin' Sky," "Ready For Love," Shooting Star," ""Feel Like Making' Love" and more) as well as affecting takes on a slew of other album tracks. Information: rhino.com.

Artist: Samantha Fish
Title: Chills & Fever (Ruf Records)
You might like if you enjoy: Janiva Magness, James Hunter Six
Tell me more: The fourth album release from singer-songwriter-guitarist Samantha Fish finds the Kansas City, Missouri native stretching her sonic wings to inject an authentic blend of Motown soul and R&B into her established blues-meets-roots rock brew. Armed with a far-reaching soprano and dexterity on the fretboard to match, Fish has somehow found a musical place that recalls the classic sounds of Motown mixed with electric blues. Recorded at The 45 Factory in Detroit, Chills & Fever teams Fish with a supporting cast that includes a horn section that adds particular magic to the tracks. Standouts on the excellent 14-song disc include the dynamic "He Did It," the playful title cut and lead guitar-anchored "You Can't Go." Information: rufrecords.de.

Artist: Fastball
Title: Step Into Light (33 1/3)
You might like if you enjoy: Weezer, Fastball, the Jayhawks
Tell me more: Fastball is back. The Austin, Texas-based trio's new studio album Step Into Light is a wonderful collection of melodic and smart pop-rock tunes sure to please lovers of top-tier songcraft. Fastball's first album since 2009's Little White Lies, the new 12-song set Step Into Light features a wide range of infectious songs including the rocking lead-off track "We're On Our Way," the shimmering power pop gem "Just Another Dream," surf rock-styled instrumental "Tanzania" and the sweeping Americana-flavored title track. "Step Into Light" also finds Fastball's all-original lineup (Tony Scalzo, Miles Zuniga and Joey Shuffield) stretching their sound as evidenced by the album-ending art rocker "Lillian Gish" and genre-defying "Frenchy and the Punk." Fastball is on tour, and will be performing at House of Blues in Anaheim on Thursday, June 29. You can get more information on that concert date here. Information: fastballtheband.com.

Titles shed light on seminal studios, Taylor Guitars, King of Pop, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and more

Last year saw the release of a slew of noteworthy new books focused on much-loved corners of the music universe, including British recording studios, Southern California-based Taylor Guitars, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and more. Here is an overview of several of the essential titles now available.

Title: The Great British Recording Studios (Hal Leonard Books)
Author: Howard Massey
Tell me more: Fans of the Beatles and other bands who comprised the British Invasion won't be the only ones interested in grabbing "The Great British Recording Studios." With a foreword by Sir George Martin's providing a kick-off, Howard Massey's wonderful book provides an in-depth review of the growth of England's recording studio industry following World War II, and looks at specific facilities including Abbey Road (EMI Studios), Decca, IBC and others. There are specifics about equipment used at the various studios and key recordings that were made at each. There are also stories from some of the sessions and a myriad of other points about the British studios that are detailed enough to thrill audiophiles and musicologists, but readable enough for the music fan without the technical background of a studio engineer or record producer. There are a wealth of historical color and black & white photos captured inside the studios too. Information: greatbritishstudios.halleonardbooks.com.

Title: The Taylor Guitar Book (Backbeat Books)

Tell me more: Neil Young, Jason Mraz, Damon Albarn, Zac Brown and Dave Matthews are among the countless musicians who play Taylor guitars. Now the story of Taylor Guitars (based in San Diego, CA) is revealed via the wonderful Teja Gerken-penned "The Taylor Guitar Book." Founded in 1974 (long after companies such as Gibson, Fender, Guild, Martin and Rickenbacker had seemingly cornered the market), Taylor has grown to be among the leaders of the industry while attracting the loyalty of guitarists around the globe. This colorfully-illustrated 160-page book will appeal to both casual and hardcore fans of Taylor-made acoustic and electric instruments. Information: backbeatbooks.com.

Title: Michael Jackson FAQ (Backbeat Books)
Author: Kit O'Toole
Tell me more: Writer Kit O'Toole has taken a straight-forward, but effective path in providing a bigger picture of Michael Jackson's long career, which included the King of Pop's work and influence in the worlds of music, film, dance and pop culture. Looking at a long career spanning his work with the Jackson 5, the Jacksons and groundbreaking solo career, Jackson's work with Stevie Wonder, Sir Paul McCartney, and even his posthumous successes (notably the 2009 documentary film "This Is It") are also covered by O'Toole in an illustrated book stretching across 464 pages. Information: backbeatbooks.com.

Title: Billie Holiday: The Musician and the Myth (Viking)
Author: John Szwed
Tell me more: A former professor of music and director of the Center for Jazz Studies at Columbia University, John Szwed proved to be the perfect author to pen the well-researched and involving "Billie Holiday: The Musician and the Myth." Released in paperback in early 2015, the biography sheds light on Holiday's groundbreaking role as jazz singer and early champion in the fight against racism. What emerges is that despite the troubles and challenges Holiday faced in her all-too-brief life (the New York native died at the age of 44 in 1959) was she was an artist of tremendous talent who influenced countless contemporaries and musical descendants. Title: Sinatra: The Chairman (Doubleday)
Author: James Kaplan
Tell me more: At 992 pages, the hardcover edition of James Kaplan's "Sinatra: The Chairman" picks up where the author left off with 2010's "Sinatra: The Voice" and fully paints a portrait of the 20th century icon beginning with the day after he picked up his Academy Award in 1954 (for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "From Here to Eternity"). This biography is a ripe with insights into Sinatra's last act ("Ol' Blue Eyes" died in 1998, but would have celebrated his 100th birthday on Dec. 12, 2015) that was filled with incredible highs and lows. It takes a lot to capture one of the last century's most dynamic and significant entertainers, and Kaplan has done that masterfully in "Sinatra: The Chairman." Information: penguinrandomhouse.com.

Title: Don't All Thank Me At Once: The Lost Pop Genius of Scott Miller (125 Books)
Author: Brett Milano
Tell me more: In a world filled with under-the-radar musical heroes, few loom larger than Scott Miller. A groundbreaking indie rocker who fronted Game Theory in the '80s and The Loud Family in the '90s. Although Miller's insightful and intelligent style of literate songcraft has drawn comparisons with the celebrated likes of Elvis Costello and Big Star, his lost place is just now being fully realized thanks to several recent (and upcoming) reissues as well as Brett Milano's fantastic appreciation "Don't All Thank Me At Once: The Lost Pop Genius of Scott Miller" released in October 2015. Sights and Sounds: Eva Cassidy, Frank Sinatra, Ritchie Blackmore, 'The Flash' & 'Arrow' soundtracks

Here is a roundup of a truly wide-ranging mix of media releases to share...

NIGHTBIRD-EVA CASSIDY'S 'COMPLETE BLUES ALLEY'
20TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION ARRIVES
DECEMBER 11 IN THE U.S. FROM BLIX STREET RECORDS

RE-MASTERED TWO-CD SET FEATURES 12 PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED RECORDINGS, INCLUDING
8 NEVER-BEFORE-HEARD SONGS
PERFORMED BY THE LATE SINGER

ONE NIGHT, ONE TAKE (JANUARY 3, 1996)
"She possessed a silken soprano voice with a wide and seeminglyeffortless range, unerring pitch and a gift for phrasing that at timeswas heart-stoppingly eloquent."   --The New York Times
Eva Cassidy, the late singer whose signature version of "Over the Rainbow" underscored the In Memoriam portion of the 2015 Emmy broadcast, is remembered in NIGHTBIRD-a two-CD set that affords everyone the opportunity to experience Eva's tour de force performance at the Blues Alley jazz club in Washington, D.C. on January 3, 1996.  Arriving on December 11, the double CD version will be followed several weeks later by the release of a four-LP gatefold heavyweight vinyl album.
The Blues Alley performances were recorded for what was to become the only solo Eva Cassidy album released during her lifetime. The original LIVE AT BLUES ALLEY album (first released locally in D.C. during the spring of 1996) only included 12 of the 31 songs recorded that night.
20 years later, the remastered NIGHTBIRD includes all 31 songs she performed that night, among them 12 previously unreleased recordings and 8 never-before-heard songs performed by the late singer. Eva's wide musical range is showcased in songs such as "Nightbird," "Blue Skies," "Son Of A Preacher Man," "Route 66," "Late In The Evening," "Baby I Love You" and "Caravan."

Blix Street's UK label is releasing NIGHTBIRD as a limited edition 2-CD plus bonus DVD package, as well as a 4-LP gatefold heavyweight vinyl package that also includes the 2-CD and DVD package on November 13. The accompanyingPAL-format DVD will contain 12 video performances recorded during the Blues Alley concert.

After cashing in a small pension from her job at a tree nursery to pay for the recording of the Blues Alley appearance, Eva and her band-bassist Chris Biondo, pianist Lenny Williams, lead guitarist Keith Grimes and drummer Raice McLeod-took to the Blues Alley stage with modest hopes.

"We thought we'd get airplay and sell a thousand copies so Eva could put some money toward a PA system," explains Biondo in the upcoming documentary, One Night That Changed Everything that celebrates the Blues Alley 20th anniversary. (NOTE: In the film by British television director Attracta McLaughlin, Eva's band revisits the Blues Alley venue to view performance videos from the night with then and now perspectives).

Nobody imagined that the audio and video recordings captured that night would prove to be the foundation of Eva Cassidy's unparalleled posthumous international success.  Many of Eva's included signature interpretations recorded that night have become fan-favorites, including "Fields Of Gold," "People Get Ready," "Ain't No Sunshine," "What A Wonderful World" and "Autumn Leaves."
Blues Alley footage of Eva performing "Over The Rainbow" propelled Eva's SONGBIRD album to the top of the UK album chart in 2001, after it was broadcast (and re-broadcast following a wave of phone calls, emails and letters from viewers) on Top of the Pops2 on BBC2. The UK chart-topper fueled a feeding frenzy within the U.S. media, including a half hour piece on ABC News Nightline that was rebroadcast three additional times in the ensuing years.
By the end of 2001, SONGBIRD had been certified triple-platinum in England (for sales of more than 900,000) and Gold in the U.S. (more than 500,000 units); the album, now six times platinum in England and platinum in the U.S., eventually hit No. 1 on Billboard's Internet Albums chart and topped the publication's Pop Catalog survey for 32 weeks.
Subsequent releases include: TIME AFTER TIME (2000); two additional U.K. chart toppers, IMAGINE(2002) and AMERICAN TUNE (2003)--in the U.S., the formerclimbed to No. 1 on Billboard's Independent Albums survey, the latter to No. 5--the 2004 compilation WONDERFUL WORLD; SOMEWHERE (2008); SIMPLY EVA (2011), an album of alternative Eva-only guitar and vocal performances; and THE BEST OF EVA CASSIDY, in 2012. Now comes NIGHTBIRD, the complete Blues Alley album, which includes all 31 songs recorded on the night of January 3, 1996.

The NIGHTBIRD album concludes with Eva's studio recording of "Oh, Had I A Golden Thread," also a bonus track on the original LIVE AT BLUES ALLEY album. On first listen to the Blues Alley recordings Eva was disappointed. She had been suffering from a cold and thought her singing below par. Fortunately for music lovers everywhere, once she heard the final mixes, Eva was persuaded by her band-mates to allow the original LIVE AT BLUES ALLEY album to be released--with one condition--that the album end with "Oh, Had I A Golden Thread," a performance she was particularly proud of.
The night of January 3, 1996 proved to be the high point of Eva Cassidy's tragically short career as a performer... and the beginning of her legendary posthumous career as a recording artist. Within 10 months of Blues Alley she was gone, having been diagnosed with melanoma by mid-year.
Bill Straw, president of Eva's posthumous label, independent Blix Street Records, heard the original LIVE AT BLUES ALLEY album in late September of 1996, shortly before Eva died. "By the time I finished listening to the album, I had heard one of the best singers ever," he recalls. "I knew she was going to be famous, but also knew she would not live to enjoy it. I drove around listening to Eva's music for months before finally contacting her parents about marketing their daughter's music."

A year following Cassidy's untimely passing, Blix Street (then in LA, now in the Seattle area) entered into an agreement with her parents Hugh and Barbara Cassidy to compile and market the singer's catalogue. In 1998, Blix Street initially released SONGBIRD (a collection of tracks from the original LIVE AT BLUES ALLEY and the EVA BY HEART studio albums, plus "Over the Rainbow" from the 1992 THE OTHER SIDE duet album with Chuck Brown).  Later that year, Blix Street re-issued LIVE AT BLUES ALLEY and EVA BY HEART, which had been released locally by Eva's parents in late 1997, a year following Eva's passing.
SONGBIRD received immediate critical acclaim in various markets around the world.  Sales grew steadily in the U.S., U.K. and Australia, but it took almost three years to reach a tipping point. In December, 2000, NPR included an Eva Cassidy segment on the Morning Edition radio program in America (and within minutes five Eva Cassidy albums soared to the top 5 positions of the Amazon US Pop Chart) and the Top of the Pops2 television program in England aired Eva's "Over the Rainbow" performance video from Blues Alley, sending SONGBIRD to the top of the British album charts in March, 2001.
Compiling the 31 Blues Alley performances into one NIGHTBIRD album was a daunting task for Straw. "I have had the privilege of compiling eight Eva Cassidy albums, beginning with SONGBIRD. In each instance, the luxury of Eva's considerable catalogue, from various sources, served the basic premise that less is more. The challenge of an album containing 31 tracks is the polar opposite...would more be less? Fortunately, more turned out to be much more. The first listening to all 31 tracks in one sitting was an inspiring experience. Beginning at Capitol Records in the late 60's, I had heard out-takes from the best of the best...but had never before heard anything that approached the sheer consistent vocal excellence of these 31 one-take, all on one night, performances."

NIGHTBIRD, the 'Complete Blues Alley' 20th Anniversary Collection will be released on December 11 on Blix Street Records. The tracks are:

LA-LA LAND RECORDS PRESENTS
THE FLASH SEASON 1- ORIGINAL TELEVISION SOUNDTRACK
AND
ARROW SEASON 3 - ORIGINAL TELEVISION SOUNDTRACK
Both Releases Are Limited Edition 2-Disc Sets Featuring Original Music Composed by Blake Neely

La-La Land Records is proud to announce the release of THE FLASH Season 1 - Original Television Soundtrack and ARROW Season 3 - Original Television Soundtrack.  Both albums are 2-CD limited edition sets (3000 units) composed by Blake Neely (BLINDSPOT, SUPERGIRL).  As a special bonus, both releases contain music from THE FLASH VS. ARROW crossover episodes, with Part One appearing on THE FLASHalbum and Part Two appearing on the ARROW recording.  Both sets will be available exclusively at www.lalalandrecords.com on October 20th and major music retail outlets on October 27, 2015.
“Season three of ARROW started with a bang,” said Neely. “A huge action sequence with our hero and his counterparts taking down a new villain. But that wasn’t the bang that left us all in shock. The unexpected murder of one of our best-loved characters, Canary, spun the series into a new direction and set the stage for what would be a dark, twisting, emotional journey, littered with bodies, surprises, team-ups, new heroes, and one of my favorite characters to have scored — the great Ra’s al Guhl.”
ARROW season three goes right back to the action. Determined to right the wrongs of Starling City and sworn to bring justice to those who have failed it, Oliver Queen (aka The Arrow) - with the help of his iron-fisted right hand, John Diggle, the tech-savvy Felicity Smoak and the newest member of the team, Roy Harper - narrowly defeats the vengeful Slade Wilson, his onetime ally and mentor on the island of Lian Yu. But like all wars, there are casualties. Sacrificing herself for her children, Moira Queen falls at the hand of Deathstroke, sending Oliver's sister, Thea, into self-imposed exile with her biological father, Malcolm Merlyn. In Season Three, Oliver faces an even greater threat, when another lethal face emerges from his dark and tortured past – Ra's Al Ghul!
“Although I was warned, I had no idea how my life would change when Barry Allen bounced into a scene in Episode 208 of ARROW,” Neely explained. “Not only would this character send me in a new musical direction, but he would launch a new TV series that would connect me with thousands more die-hard fans on Twitter and millions more fans worldwide. “
THE FLASH is a fast-paced super hero drama that follows the high-speed adventures of Central City Police scientist Barry Allen, an everyday guy with the heart of a hero and the genuine desire to help others. When an unexpected accident at the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator facility strikes Barry, he finds himself suddenly charged with the incredible power to move at super speeds. While Barry has always been a hero in his soul, his newfound powers have finally given him the ability to act like one. With the help of the research team at S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry begins testing the limits of his evolving powers and using them to stop crime. With a winning personality and a smile on his face, Barry Allen - aka The Flash - is finally moving forward in life … very, very fast!
“Soon Oliver [ARROW] and Barry [THE FLASH] would join forces to save their two cities in an epic two-night event,” Neely described. “The episodes were so successful that we immediately released a soundtrack. Included on both soundtracks are second discs containing music from Part 1 and Part 2 of the crossover, along with additional bonus tracks from the respective series.”
Blake Neely is an award-winning composer, whose work spans both film and television.  He is currently scoring SUPERGIRL, the CW’s ARROW and THE FLASH, and NBC’s BLINDSPOT His recent documentary work includes CNN’s highly acclaimed THE SIXTIES and THE SEVENTIES and HBO Documentary Film’s THE CASE AGAINST 8.
Neely has scored more than twenty television series, including RESURRECTION, THE MENTALIST, BROTHERS & SISTERS, GOLDEN BOY, ELI STONE, and POLITICAL ANIMALS.  Among his film credits are LIFE AS WE KNOW IT, THE GREAT BUCK HOWARD, THE WEDDING DATE, and SPACE SHUTTLE COLUMBIA: MISSION OF HOPE.  He has received three Emmy® Award nominations for his scores to ABC’s PAN AM, the acclaimed HBO mini-series THE PACIFIC and for his main title theme for the series EVERWOOD.
The second season of THE FLASH began airing on the CW Tuesday October 6, 2015 and the fourth season of ARROW began airing on the CW Wednesday October 7, 2015.  La-La Land Records presents THE FLASH Season 1 - Original Television Soundtrack and ARROW – Season 3 Original Television Soundtrack limited edition (3000 units) 2CD sets exclusively at www.lalalandrecords.com on October 20, and other major music retail outlets on October 27, 2015.
