“A VOICE OF PHENOMENAL BEAUTY”

-THE NEW YORK TIMES

New York, NY(October 4, 2022) –Jane Monheit is about to unwrap her new holiday CD The Merriest (Club44 Records) on October 28, followed by a streaming format release on November 4.

“I’ve always been a person who loves the holiday season,” enthuses the international #1 Billboard pop/jazz vocalist. “I look forward to it all year, especially the wonderful songs we only get to experience during the month of December.”

When classic Christmas songs are dipped in the sweet, luscious swing of jazz music, the results are always as warm and soothing as hot cocoa and chestnuts. Top that with a vocal performance from an artist who has perfected the art of songbook standards, and you’ve got all the ingredients for holiday delight.

The Merriest is Jane Monheit’s second holiday album, following 2005’s The Season. On this release, the celebrated jazz singer continues her tradition of imbuing timeless music with her unique vocal and jazz stylings. Produced by Rick Montalbano, The Merriest is a personal collection of festive faire handpicked by Monheit herself. In addition to the decadent duet “That Holiday Feeling” with world-renowned artist John Pizzarelli, the album features such beloved material as “Christmas Time Is Here”, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year”, “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!”, and “Winter Wonderland”. The Merriest also features the first ever recording of Broadway legend Cy Coleman’s composition “(Christmas) Stay With Me.”

A master of her craft, Jane Monheit’s stunning interpretations of the American Songbook, classic pop songs, and traditional Latin / bossa nova tunes have mesmerized fans the world over. Her ability to honor timeless material with her well-honed vocal performances has resulted in several of her albums going to #1 on the Billboard Jazz Charts.

Smooth, playful, and enchanting, The Merriest richly revisits these cherished melodies with lush orchestrations and Monheit’s signature vocals, evoking nostalgia, family, and home. It’s a perfect collection to kick off the holiday season.

1. Christmas Time Is Here

Blood Harmony also includes such recent singles as “Georgia Off My Mind,” “Bad Spell” and the smoldering title track, “Blood Harmony,” all available now at all DSPs and streaming services. A heavy-hearted yet swinging lament for what we leave behind in chasing our dreams, “Georgia Off My Mind” is joined by an official music video streaming now at YouTube. “‘Georgia Off My Mind’ flips the script on popular jazz standard ‘Georgia On My Mind,’” wrote Guitar World, “and swaps smooth sounds for gritty electric guitar action that marries drop-tuned rumbles, swinging blues riffs and upper register licks into one tremolo-tinged main hook.” “It is refreshing to see these two women throwing out any rule books to how they should be perceived,” enthused American Blues Scene. “In fact, they aren’t just breaking the rules, they are making up their own.

“Blood Harmony” is joined by an official music video streaming now at YouTube following its exclusive premiere via Guitar World, which declared the track, “Soulful…It builds and builds. It assembles itself with acoustic, lap steel and electric guitar parking a relaxed southern rock vibe over a kick. It speaks of music running in the family.

“Bad Spell” – which Rebecca Lovell describes as “a female response” to Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ classic “I Put a Spell on You” – arrived this spring alongside an official music video streaming now via YouTube. The track was met by critical applause around the world, with Americana-UK hailing its “leather jacket swagger,” adding, “This fierce blues rock barnburner from Larkin Poe conjures arena strutting 70’s rockers and the first wave of British blues in the 60’s.” “Rebecca delivers some monumental riffage on the tune,” wrote Guitar World, “with her sister Megan adding some singeing lap steel statements to the picture.

Blood Harmony affirms Larkin Poe as an essential force in shaping the identity of Southern rock ‘n’ roll, breathing new energy into the genre with both forward-thinking perspective and a decidedly feminine strength. In a departure from the self-contained approach of past albums like 2020’s Self Made Man – praised by American Songwriter as “pumped up for arena-sized consumption without compromising any of its stripped-down command and intensity” – Larkin Poe co-produced the new album alongside Texas-bred musician Tyler Bryant (also Rebecca’s husband). With Megan handling harmony vocals, lap steel, and resonator guitar and Rebecca on guitar and keys, Larkin Poe also enlisted members of their longtime live band, including drummer Kevin McGowan and bassist Tarka Layman. Mainly recorded at Rebecca and Tyler’s home studio, the result is an electrifying new work that fully harnesses the fiery vitality they’ve shown in touring across the globe, imbuing their songs with equal parts soulful sensitivity and thrilling ferocity. From the feverish guitar work of “Bad Spell” to the soul-stirring “Southern Comfort” and smoldering title track, Blood Harmony reveals a band in complete touch with their formidable intuition, their storytelling fortified with a blues-heavy sound that hits right in the heart.

When steering by your own stars, you never quite know where you’re going to wind up,” says Larkin Poe. “Our true north is unique to us, and in following our true north without compromise, we have been out freewheeling this world on the ride of our lives. And it still feels like just the beginning. Blood Harmony is a creative step we are proud to have taken together as sisters. We grew these songs in a sweet part of our hearts and we hope they bring beauty.

“Hosting David Crosby at The Capitol Theatre was an honor for us and when David came out and crushed his performance it elevated things even further. We feel very fortunate that this legendary moment was captured forever.”  Peter Shapiro (Owner, The Capitol Theatre)

New York, NY (October 4, 2022) -  Two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and co-founder of the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, David Crosby, for the first time ever will release a solo live CD plus DVD package & digital.

Arriving November 25, 2022 via BMG, the folk-rock legend and cultural force for over fifty years, continues his late period renaissance with the release of David Crosby & The Lighthouse Band Live at the Capitol TheatrePre–order the set here.

Continuing to forge new paths in his eighth decade, Crosby again joins forces with Becca Stevens, Michelle Willis and Michael League, the three musicians known as The Lighthouse Band, who he’s been working with since 2016’s Lighthouse album.

Far from just a solo live album/DVD, working with his first new band since CPR (Crosby, Pevar & Raymond), Crosby and The Lighthouse Band quickly discovered their chemistry took a collaborative leap during their 2018 tour together in support of Crosby’s seventh solo album Here if You Listen (2018, BMG) culminating in this live recorded set on the last night of the run.

Recorded and filmed at the historic Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, in a particularly meaningful turn for Crosby, the sixteen track live offering includes an uncut gem with the song “1974” - a long-lost demo track that Crosby had floating around on his computer hard drive for decades.

Vocalist/guitarist Michael League shares, “I found the demo and I listened to it.I fell in love with this and I thought, you know, Crosby should finish this and he said, ‘Man, it's been sitting on my computer for 40 years, so you know, whatever, sure’, so I sent it to Becca Stevens and she was like, ‘give me a crack at it’ - so she came in a couple of days later with four-part harmonies for the entire song, lyrics for the entire song, and we sat down that day and kind of fine-tuned things, and so 44 years after it's kind of conception a song was born.”

This very special live performance acts as a celebration of sorts as it spotlights the kindred relationship Crosby shares with League, Stevens and Willis.

Stevens offers, “The Lighthouse band is family. David and I tease about my not “understanding the magnitude of his brilliance”. I didn’t grow up with his music. I knew his name, but that was about it. I’ve gotten to know him purely through my experience of him in the present moment, generous, endlessly inspired, ambitious, and completely insane (in all my favorite ways). A man who has known immense fame, and yet would start a band at seventy something with three youngish weirdos, begging them to share the light with him. There’s something truly wonderful in that, and truly David.”

Willis adds, “He (Crosby) has gifted us his friendship, care, wisdom, humor, family, and community. And in addition, he has given Mike, Becca and I endless tools to create something of beauty to offer. This is because he truly believes in music, and its ability to profoundly change and make better those who encounter it. I’m so grateful to have a fighter like Croz in my life.”
