Tim McGraw captivates with San Manuel spectacle
The country star unifies music lovers and party people via superb, trick-filled set.

Tim McGraw had already performed for about an hour Saturday night (June 8, 2013) before he focused on material from his latest album, Two Lanes of Freedom, at San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino County.
As with most veteran artists, his switch to new stuff wasn't initially met with the same cheers that accompany classic hits. Yet it was during this stretch that the Louisiana native displayed what has helped make him such a durable entertainer over the past 20 years.
From the spirited, dance-minded "Mexicoma" to the tender ballad "Nashville Without You," McGraw and his terrific, longtime seven-member band the Dancehall Doctors showcased an effortless ability to take audiences (like this party-geared one) through a vast range of emotional terrain.
When he got to his next song, "Friend of a Friend," a symphonic opening courtesy of the keyboards segued into a tender tale of cheating set against a backdrop of coffee shops and yoga sessions, rather than the honky-tonk days of old.
More than any other country star of his generation, McGraw, 46, has been able to stay relevant for more than two decades by blending classic and current styles in songs that connect with the heart.
His mini-set of new tunes, for instance, reached its zenith when he broke into "Highway Don't Care," his duet with Taylor Swift, who could be seen singing with him via large and effective rear-projection screens. Sealing the deal on that song was Keith Urban's lead guitar work, another video element blended seamlessly into the performance, although not everyone picked up on the trick: some inebriated fans near me stood on their chairs and screamed in delight shooting photos of on-screen Swift as if she was physically there.
Anyone who has been to big modern country shows outdoors (be it Stagecoach or Go Country's annual fest in Irvine) knows there are two types of audiences that attend these shindigs: those who come to dress the part, drink and party; and those who come primarily for the music. That dichotomy was well-served by McGraw, who began the show by walking from the back of the venue through the audience, delighting fans as they greeted him with high-fives and got snapshots on their smartphones as he went past.
Opening his lengthy set with the fiddle-anchored "Where the Green Grass Grows," the bash was instantly in full swing, people singing its melodic chorus and clapping along when prompted by the singer in the black cowboy hat.
The use of screens was more effective than is the norm, with canny images usually reinforcing themes and lyrics from specific songs. The rowdy "How Bad Do You Want It?" (treated to roadhouse imagery) and "Angel Boy" (its spacious rock soundscape positioned against stunning aerial shots of wilderness landscapes) made excellent use of this technique.
"Live Like You Were Dying," arguably his most beloved song, closed out his main set, unifying the sober and the impaired as McGraw applied his distinctive baritone to the bittersweet tale of a man striving to make the best of life's remaining moments. (The song was originally dedicated to his father, legendary relief pitcher Tug McGraw, who died in 2004 of a brain tumor.) The performance clearly defined why this country superstar continues to connect to diverse crowds so forcefully.
Of the two opening acts, Brantley Gilbert brought his hard-rock-infused blend with original cuts such as "My Kinda Party" and "Dirt Road Anthem" (both covered by Jason Aldean in recent years) while exhibiting tender instincts on the pretty ballad "More Than Miles." Although the upstart – who will marry another newcomer, Jana Kramer, later this year – has been compared to fellow Georgia tunesmith Zac Brown, Gilbert's raspy vocals and hard-edged approach lacked the nuance of Brown's live turns with his exceptional band.

Love and Theft, the pop/country duo of guitarists and vocalists Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson, kicked off the evening with an entertaining half-hour set. The highlights were "Runnin' Out of Air," their country-rock enhanced by a bit of funky guitar, and the closing number "Angel Eyes," an upbeat tune that got many in the crowd on their feet and singing along with the pair's shining harmonies.

The Grateful Dead is back for the third annual “Grateful Dead Meet Up at the Movies 2013” on Thursday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m. (local time). Originally shot on 16mm film on the grounds of the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta, Oregon in 1972—and painstakingly restored to HD resolution—“Sunshine Daydream” captures the band at the height of their powers. With the Dead lending their services to the Kesey family to help keep their Springfield Creamery afloat, this colorful counterculture time capsule features special appearances by key members of the Grateful Dead community and a cavalcade of Merry Pranksters.

IWRESTLEDABEARONCE REVEAL DETAILS ABOUT THIRD STUDIO ALBUM
Los Angeles based experimental-heavy-rock band IWRESTLEDABEARONCE have announced they will release their highly anticipated, third studio album, Late For Nothing, on August 6th via Century Media Records.
Late For Nothing was self-produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by the band’s guitarist/programmer Steven Bradley at the band’s home studio in Los Angeles. It also marks IWABO’s first record with their fiery new singer Courtney LaPlante who joined the band with only a day’s notice during last summer’s Vans Warped Tour.
Newly recharged with the addition of LaPlante, Bradley and cohorts John Ganey (guitar/programming), Mike “Rickshaw” Martin (bass) and Mikey Montgomery (drums) are set to keep their fans guessing with Late For Nothing. While the band’s signature, avant-garde style is well intact on the new album; their style has progressed immensely. By far their boldest and most accessible release to date, Late For Nothing rips and roars with blunt force intensity, incorporating their brain joggling breakdowns with a unique blend of electronics, jazzed-out time signatures and break neck riffage.
"The entire album came together as a result of us wanting to do something different," affirms Bradley. "We didn't want to make another weird IWABO album or whatever people were expecting. We set out to make something different and better than anything we've ever released. It's a more evolved version of the band. We explored new styles and genres as well—especially in terms of the more spacey, epic, and beautiful parts. It's got the most melodic moments of our career as well as the heaviest."
Featuring the forthcoming, schizophrenic first single “Thunder Chunky,” Late For Nothing scales the summit of heavy rock/metal with twelve teeth gnashing tracks that find a happy medium between crushing metal and beautifully orchestrated melody. The album’s opener, “Thunder Chunky,” sets the tone for the album as they slash their way through songs like “Letters To Stallone,” that showcases LaPlante’s incredible balance of full throttle screams and melodic choruses, and“Carnage Asada,” which features a guest solo from the legendary Steve Vai.
IWABO will head to Europe for a summer run before returning to support the release of Late For Nothing in the U.S. on The All Stars Tour 2013 with Every Time I Die.

Toad the Wet Sprocket to return to 'New Constellation' on September 17, 2013
How excited am I by the return of Toad the Wet Sprocket? Very excited. One of my favorite rock bands to emerge in the 1990s, the group is set to release its first new full-length studio album in more than 15 years on September 17. Bilboard-Charting Band Announcing Extensive Run of U.S. Summer Tour Dates as They Put the Finishing Touches on The First All-New Toad The Wet Sprocket Album in 16 Years

Toad the Wet Sprocket, the band famed for such Billboard-charting hits as “Walk on the Ocean”, “All I Want”, “Something’s Always Wrong”, and “Fall Down” has been back in the studio again, recording their first album together in 16 years. The same creative curiosity that inspired the band to form in 1986 and then to branch out in different directions in 1998 has brought them full circle to come back together again. As Glen Phillips put it, "At some point we would play shows and remember not why we'd broken up, but why we got together in the first place. That made it possible and exciting to move forward again." The result is New Constellation, an album of new material produced by Mikal Blue and being released on the band’s label, Abe’s Records, September 17th, 2013.
Bassist, Dean Dinning says, "The idea to make this record was born out of the fact that we are really enjoying playing live together again- and adding new songs into the set just makes it that much better.” Phillips added, "We've all been making music outside of the band for a while now. It's amazing to get back together and incorporate all we've learned in the last years but immediately hear the sonic signature that is essentially Toad re-emerge."
Today, the band’s first single from the album and title track “New Constellation” premiered on Rolling Stone’s site. In a statement about the track, Glen Phillips said, “After not having recorded as Toad the Wet Sprocket for over 16 years, we finally decided to make a new record for our fans. "New Constellation" was the very first new song written specifically for the band. After a decade in the folk/singer/songwriter world it was exciting to write with the band in mind. I wanted come up with material that would respect our origins but also respect everything we'd learned in the intervening years. The lyric veers from outer space to patron saints to depression to heroic gestures of love in a quick three minute pop song. We hope you like it.”

Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song, Amos Lee's fifth studio album, will be released on October 1 by Blue Note Records. See below for track listing. Lee recorded the 12-song collection in Nashville with Jay Joyce (Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Eric Church, Cage the Elephant).
"I've always enjoyed it down there, so I thought I'd bring my band and see how a bunch of Philly guys fit in," says Lee. "Jay brings a musicality, a different kind of ear. He definitely hears things in ways that I don't, and brings out extra dimensions in the songs."
Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song is the follow-up to 2011's Mission Bell, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Rock Albums charts and contained the No. 1 Triple A radio hit "Windows Are Rolled Down." The new studio record is the first to feature Lee's longtime touring band - comprising Freddie Berman, Zach Djanikian, Andy Keenan and Jaron Olevsky - and the first album ever recorded at St. Charles, producer Joyce's brand new studio, which is housed in a converted East Nashville church.
The convenient location allowed several remarkable guests to participate in the sessions.Alison Krauss joins Lee on "Chill In The Air" and Patty Griffin sings harmony on "Mountains of Sorrow," a song inspired by Lee's visit to Levon Helm's barn in Woodstock, where he appeared at the legendary drummer's Midnight Ramble not long before Helm's death. Instrumentalists Jerry Douglas (Alison Krauss & Union Station),Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson and Family) and Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band) also contribute to the record.
Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song finds Lee in new sonic territory, working with a broader palette of textures and instrumentation yet retaining the trenchant impact of the scenes, characters and stories that he is renowned for. The album arrives a full 10 years after he first signed with Blue Note Records and began a career that continues to grow and surprise.
The New York Times praised Lee's "honeyed singing voice," noting that 2011's chart-topping Mission Bell "sharpens the payoff...it plants Mr. Lee and his tunes in a stark landscape, enveloped by rustling percussion and reverberant drones " while MOJO said: "His lyrics sweat with detail and nervy experience." "Mission Bell is a darker turn for Lee, and shows that his artistic arc is still peaking," observed Associated Press.
Lee - who has toured with such artists as Bob Dylan, Norah Jones, Elvis Costello, Adele and Dave Matthews Band - will celebrate the release of Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song with an extensive fall headline tour. Details will be announced shortly.

Revered Orange County ska-punk band SAVE FERRIS is getting ready to perform their first show in over 10 years! The newly reformed group, featuring original vocalist Monique Powell, will perform at the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa on July 27th with special guest, 2 Tone Icons - The English Beat.
Fans of the pioneering ska/punk hit-maker band have been awaiting a return to the stage for a decade and this performance will be extra special for Powell herself. After a miraculous 4-level cervical laminoplasty surgery, the punk songstress is ready to belt out the SAVE FERRIS songs she made famous over a decade ago.
About her recent major surgery, Mo declares to her fans, “It's been 10 years since I've performed these songs but I have fought hard to bring you this show and I’ve WON. I can't WAIT to put on the best show for you guys...thanks for sticking around and for continuing to support SAVE FERRIS.”
Named after a classic, recurring line from John Hughes’ iconic comedy “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” SAVE FERRIS got their start circa 1995 on the OC punkster scene. Led by Powell, SAVE FERRIS was among the pioneering ska bands that helped break the genre into the mainstream with a string of critically acclaimed releases, including an EP, Introducing Save Ferris, and two groundbreaking, full-length albums on Epic Records, It Means Everything and Modified, which featured the hit cover “Come On Eileen” and singles “Goodbye” and “The World Is New.”
After several lineup changes and touring the world extensively for years in support of their music, SAVE FERRIS’ last tour to date was in 2003, dubbed the “For The Fans” Tour. 'Daryl’s Restoration Over-Hall' Will Debut on Scripps Networks Interactive’s DIY Network in 2014, Joining Live from Daryl’s House, which Continues on Palladia, RFD, Family Net and in Syndication
NEW YORK, June 4, 2013 – Daryl Hall is a true renaissance man for all seasons, with his interests in music and home restoration the subjects of two different TV shows on four individual cable networks and national syndication. One could say he’s building that resume from the ground up as the record-setting musician displays his talents as a builder and designer on Daryl’s Restoration Over-Hall, a new show debuting on Scripps Networks Interactive’s DIY Network in 2014. Hall and his manager Jonathan Wolfson are executive producers, and Michael Morrissey is the director.
Daryl’s Restoration Over-Hall joins Live from Daryl’s House, his critically acclaimed, award-winning, web-to-cable series, which can currently be seen on Viacom’s high-def network Palladia, RFD-TV, FamilyNet and in national syndication. Production of Live from Daryl’s House, which has produced 62 episodes to date, resumes in the fall.
DIY Network, HGTV’s sister property, originally contacted Hall upon learning of his interest in vintage architecture. Daryl, who has previously restored a number of antique homes, including the 18th century farmhouse in Dutchess County, N.Y., where his Live from Daryl’s House regularly takes place, will tackle a late Georgian house circa 1780 located on the Fairfield-Litchfield County border of Connecticut, where DIY Network’s cameras will follow his progress on a weekly basis.
“The purpose of my new show is to restore an antique New England house, showing how it can be done in an authentic manner, keeping the original elements and making it consistent with the modern world,” said Hall. “I also want to feature the important community of crafts-people, who are expert in authentic restoration.”
In Daryl’s Restoration Over-Hall, Hall plans to revive the quaint 1-bedroom into a new family home that was originally built by a widowed sea captain. His care in historically accurate restoration must be melded with the mandates of modernity and small town regulations. Hall will bring in a team of craftsmen he has worked with over the years. He also plans on involving the American College of Building Arts in Charleston, S.C., which is the only school in America with an accredited program in this field.
“This is yet another way of putting my creativity and my other passions aside from music out there, so they can all mix together, Hall added, "We have a legacy of unique antique architecture here in America. Unfortunately, in many cases, they have been let go, demolished or altered inconsistently to their original character.”

'Daryl’s Restoration Over-Hall' Will Debut on Scripps Networks Interactive’s DIY Network in 2014, Joining Live from Daryl’s House, which Continues on Palladia, RFD, Family Net and in Syndication

Daryl’s Restoration Over-Hall joins Live from Daryl’s House, his critically acclaimed, award-winning, web-to-cable series, which can currently be seen on Viacom’s high-def network Palladia, RFD-TV, FamilyNet and in national syndication. Production of Live from Daryl’s House, which has produced 62 episodes to date, resumes in the fall.
DIY Network, HGTV’s sister property, originally contacted Hall upon learning of his interest in vintage architecture. Daryl, who has previously restored a number of antique homes, including the 18th century farmhouse in Dutchess County, N.Y., where his Live from Daryl’s House regularly takes place, will tackle a late Georgian house circa 1780 located on the Fairfield-Litchfield County border of Connecticut, where DIY Network’s cameras will follow his progress on a weekly basis.
“The purpose of my new show is to restore an antique New England house, showing how it can be done in an authentic manner, keeping the original elements and making it consistent with the modern world,” said Hall. “I also want to feature the important community of crafts-people, who are expert in authentic restoration.”
In Daryl’s Restoration Over-Hall, Hall plans to revive the quaint 1-bedroom into a new family home that was originally built by a widowed sea captain. His care in historically accurate restoration must be melded with the mandates of modernity and small town regulations. Hall will bring in a team of craftsmen he has worked with over the years. He also plans on involving the American College of Building Arts in Charleston, S.C., which is the only school in America with an accredited program in this field.
“This is yet another way of putting my creativity and my other passions aside from music out there, so they can all mix together, Hall added, "We have a legacy of unique antique architecture here in America. Unfortunately, in many cases, they have been let go, demolished or altered inconsistently to their original character.”

On July 23, 2013, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Rock For The Rising Sun by Aerosmith. This is a simultaneous release on DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats.
This is the band’s first live video release in 9 years, since the release of You Gotta Move in 2004 and it offers a unique portrayal of life on the road with Aerosmith combined with superb live performances, as the band toured Japan. Rock For The Rising Sun features the classic tracks: “Love In An Elevator,” “Livin’ On The Edge,” “Last Child,” “Walk This Way,” “Draw The Line,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Hangman Jury,” and many more, with material drawn from shows throughout this tour. As bonuses, the DVD includes extra live tracks, “Lick And A Promise” recorded at the Hiroshima Green Garden Arena and “One Way Street” taken from the Tokyo Dome.
In March 2011, Japan was beset by a huge earthquake, a monstrous tsunami and the subsequent meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear plant. In the autumn of 2011, despite advice to the contrary, Aerosmith brought their “Back On The Road” tour to Japan, a country with which they’d always had a special relationship. The Japanese fans came out in droves and Aerosmith responded with some of the finest shows of their distinguished career. This film follows the band on that tour combining full-length live tracks with behind the scenes footage, which is at times touching and emotional and at others humorous and insightful. More than anything else it demonstrates the Japanese fans’ love affair with Aerosmith and their music.
Aerosmith are truly one of the great rock acts of all time and this incredible concert film brings together tracks from across their storied career. A live band par excellence, Rock For The Rising Sun shows them rolling up their sleeves and doing what they do better than anyone else.

ON THE TONIGHT SHOW JUNE 10th
40th Anniversary Celebration Tour Kicks Off On June 15th
New York --- Bad Company will make their network late night debut on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno next Monday June 10th. The following day, the band will be the featured guests at The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles for a rare Q&A with their fans and an intimate set. The Grammy Museum event sold out within five minutes of going on sale. This Wednesday evening, fans can tune into the long running nationally syndicated program ROCKLINE, which will feature Paul Rodgers as their guest.
The band’s summer tour which will celebrate their 40th anniversary since forming begins on June 15 in Rancho Mirage, CA and will stage 30 dates, ending on September 29 at the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona. In front of the tour, Paul Rodgers shares, "When Mick and I formed the band we were amazed at the instant success. It didn't hurt to have Led Zeppelin behind us and I think we wrote some decent songs that still resonate. This one is for the fans."
Bad Company were dubbed a super-group upon the band's formation due to the union of Free's Paul Rodgers (Vocals / Multi-Instrumentalist) with Mott The Hoople's Mick Ralphs (Guitar) plus Free's Simon Kirke (Drums) and King Crimson's Boz Burrell (Bass), who passed away in 2006. Over the next nine years, the band released a string of six albums that sold tens of millions of copies, yielding international hits "Can't Get Enough," "Bad Company," "Feel Like Makin' Love," and many others penned by the main songwriters Paul Rodgers and Mick Ralphs. Original members Rodgers, Ralphs, and Kirke will be joined by guitarist Howard Leese and bassist Todd Ronning (from Paul Rodgers solo band).
On 14 of the dates, Bad Company will co-headline with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Paul Rodgers recently shared, "The Skynyrds and I go back to the 70's and the days and nights at the Hyatt House on Sunset in LA aka the Riot House. In the 90's the band introduced me to my wife Cynthia, and that's why I am so damned happy and healthy these years." Lynyrd Skynyrd's Johnny Van Zant offered, "Every member of Skynyrd has been fans of Bad Company from the get go. Personally, Paul is one of my favorite rock singers. We have a deep appreciation for Bad Company’s music and look forward to being on the road with them and sharing the stage.”

Los Angeles, CA - June 3, 2013 - Pet Shop Boys have made the brand new track 'Vocal' available to download from today. The song is taken from the forthcoming Stuart Price produced album Electric, which is released on July 16 through Pet Shop Boys' own x2 Recordings (via Kobalt Label Services). 'Vocal' will be released on CD on July 23. A vinyl version will also be made available.
