FLORENCE + THE MACHINE CONFIRM NEW LP DANCE FEVER OUT MAY 13

March 10, 2022—Dance Fever, the fifth album from Florence + the Machine, is set for release May 13. Single “My Love” debuts today alongside a video by acclaimed director Autumn de Wilde. Listen here, watch here and pre-order/pre-save the album here.

Dance Fever
was recorded in London over the course of the pandemic in anticipation of the world’s reopening. It conjures up what Florence missed most in the midst of lockdown—clubs, dancing at festivals, being in the whirl of movement and togetherness—and the hope of reunions to come.
Just before the pandemic Florence had become fascinated by choreomania, a Renaissance phenomenon in which groups of people—sometimes thousands—danced wildly to the point of exhaustion, collapse and death. The imagery resonated with Florence, who had been touring nonstop for more than a decade, and in lockdown felt oddly prescient.
The image and concept of dance, and choreomania, remained central as Florence wove her own experiences of dance—a discipline she turned to in the early days of sobriety—with the folkloric elements of a moral panic from the Middle Ages. In recent times of torpor and confinement, dance offered propulsion, energy and a way of looking at music more choreographically.
Starting, as ever, armed with a notebook of poems and ideas, Florence had just arrived to New York in March 2020 to begin recording when Covid-19 forced a retreat to London. Holed up at home, the songs began to transform, with nods to dance, folk, ‘70s Iggy Pop, longing-for-the-road folk tracks a la Lucinda Williams or Emmylou Harris and more, ultimately arriving somewhere that Florence describes as “Nick Cave at the club.” Lyrically, she took inspiration from the tragic heroines of pre-Raphaelite art, the gothic fiction of Carmen Maria Machado and Julia Armfield, the visceral wave of folk horror film from The Wicker Man and The Witch to Midsommar.
Dance Fever is an album that sees Florence at the peak of her powers, coming into a fully realized self-knowledge, poking sly fun at her own self-created persona, playing with ideas of identity, masculinity and femininity, redemption and celebration.
“My Love” follows the recently released “King” and “Heaven is Here,” both of which arrived alongside videos by de Wilde choreographed by Ryan Heffington. Dance Fever was produced by Florence, Jack Antonoff and Dave Bayley of Glass Animals.

Glass Animals shares Heat Waves (Expansion Pack)
Featuring new remix from Riton

“HEAT WAVES” HITS #1 ON ALTERNATIVE CHART

LISTEN HERE

Expanding the scope of their biggest hit to date once more, Glass Animals drops a new remix pack of “Heat Waves” today—listen to Heat Waves (Expansion Pack) HERE.

This time around, the band recruited UK dance music phenomenon Riton to reimagine, re-envision and recharge the single. He powers up “Heat Waves” with his signature four-on-the-floor house bounce, adding another dimension to the track as it amplifies frontman Dave Bayley’s fiery falsetto. Synths and bass lock into an unshakable groove as “Heat Waves” gets even hotter. The remix accompanies previously-released versions of the track by Oliver Heldens and Sonny Fodera, which EDM.com praised saying, “Both energetic house remixes elevate the original song’s success,” while Dancing Astronaut proclaims they were created for “dance floor primetime.”

This week, “Heat Waves” climbed to #1 on the Alternative Radio Chart, a first for the band in their career. The song is also #1 on Mediabase, #1 on Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart and #1 on Apple Music Alternative Genre Chart, and it continues to grow on the Top 40 Radio Chart and made its debut on Apple Music All Genres Chart.

Bayley was recently featured on Song Exploder to discuss the creation of “Heat Waves”—listen
HERE. Glass Animals also unveiled a mesmerizing, live version of “Heat Waves” featuring Holly Humberstone for La Blogothèque—watch HERE.

“
Heat Waves,” first released in June 2020 prior to Glass Animals’ critically acclaimed third album Dreamland, continues to climb up singles, streaming and radio charts around the world and shows no sign of stopping. It currently holds the #1 spot on Australia’s ARIA Official Singles Chart for the third consecutive week, as well as recently hit new peaks of #11 on Spotify’s US Top 50 Chart and #31 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 Chart. To date, the song has amassed over 300 million combined global streams (196M on Spotify / 77M on Spotify in the US alone) and hit a peak of 1.88 million daily streams on the platform. Glass Animals continues to rack up Spotify monthly listeners, currently at 16.2 million, making them the 217th most-listened to artist on the platform and surpassing the likes of Tame Impala, Gorillaz, The 1975 and The Strokes. This week, “Heat Waves” hit new peaks on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart (currently #57) and Billboard Global 200 Chart (currently #42), making the song the highest single chart peak success in the band’s history.

Be on the lookout for more surprises from Glass Animals in the near future.

After slow-releasing a few singles, LA-based and New England-bred band The Rare Occasions are finally ready to announce their sophomore album, Big Whoop, due out June 18th.

Big Whoop was defined by the intensely DIY nature of the recording process. Almost every aspect of the production was done by the band. The recording sessions were all done in Brian McLaughlin's living room and spare bedroom, where he also mixed the songs. Luke Imbusch composed the orchestral arrangements, recruiting and then conducting a live string quartet for the recording. The band collectively shares production credits, with each member bringing their own unique contributions to the table. Mastering was done by Brian Lucey at Magic Garden.

On the album, the band says, "So much of this album was born out of struggle which forced us out of our comfort zones and to think beyond our own barriers. After the departure of our guitarist, Peter, we knew we had more to give to the world. This process pushed us to broaden our approach to songwriting, arranging and production. We had released a couple of preliminary singles and then the pandemic hit which halted everything for months. This forced us to step back again, refine what we had created, and expand our new sound even further."

The Rare Occasions Bio:

The Rare Occasions are an LA-based, New England-bred indie rock band known for their explosive garage rock anthems with catchy vocal harmonies.

Brian McLaughlin (vocals) and Luke Imbusch (drums) have been making music together since their early teenage years. They formed The Rare Occasions while attending college in Boston where they met Jeremy Cohen (bass). Since then, the band have toured nationally, won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and released a vast catalog of music online.

After the departure of a fourth member in 2018, Brian, Jeremy, and Luke started on their newest full-length record, Big Whoop. Working as a three-piece has allowed them to flourish creatively; their new songs feature wall-of-sound guitars, electronic soundscapes, and lush orchestral arrangements, with intricately-woven lyrical themes of existentialism and a pointed sense of cheekiness.

Big Whoop was recorded and mixed entirely by the band themselves in their cramped rehearsal space - everything from the essential power trio instrumentation to layers of analog synths and a live string ensemble make an appearance in this labor of love, due to be released in Summer 2021. Despite the struggles of COVID-19, The Rare Occasions have managed to capture the increasing attention of listeners online from around the world, and the band looks forward to sharing their new music with live audiences once venues can safely open their doors.

BONNAROO 2020 – NEW AND IMPROVED

Throughout its history, Bonnaroo has listened to its fanbase and delivered improvements and enhancements to the festival experience year after year. 2020 will be no different, with more ticket options, new activities, site improvements including improved signage and navigation tools, on-site transportation options, additional info booths, additional Plaza programming and more.

NEW TICKET OPTIONS:
New ticketing options for 2020 include GA+, offering traditional General Admission along with exclusive access to a brand new Centeroo lounge featuring air-conditioned restrooms, exclusive bars and food vendors, relaxed shaded seating, and more.

CAMPING, TENT AND RV RENTAL OPTIONS:
Camping at Bonnaroo is hardly “camping” by most definitions of the word - it’s an endless adventure of discovery and human connection with your friends, and a key part of the Bonnaroo experience. Expect crazy surprises, unique adventures, and stories you’ll tell for a lifetime - this is NOT your average festival camping.

2020 will see an assortment of improved tent and RV rental options, including new darkroom dome tents (available with AC), convenient camping near The Grove, and more. For more information about camping, Tents & Glamping, please visit www.bonnaroo.com/tents and www.bonnaroo.com/experience/camping-plazas.

PLAZAS:
Bonnaroo’s campgrounds include hubs of activities and convenience, known as Plazas, and will return better than ever in 2020. Strategically located and well-lit public places throughout the campgrounds, Plazas include shade, free public Wi-Fi, charging stations, misting stations, showers, restrooms, medical and safety stations, information booths and most importantly, incredible programming for festival fans.

The Plazas are headed for their best year yet in 2020. Hayley Williams of Paramore will return to curate an improved “Roo’s Sanctuary of Self Love,” House of Yes will host Bonnaroo’s second annual Pride Parade, grab an eclectic slice of Nashville at The Ville, and much more still to be announced.

VIP AND PLATINUM ENHANCEMENTS:
Bonnaroo’s VIP and Platinum guests will also enjoy a large number of upgrades, including a new VIP campground layout providing direct entry into the venue and the mound at the What Stage, with more convenient placement for amenities in the venue as well as additional showers and restrooms in the campgrounds. Platinum patrons will enjoy the best campground and amenities on the entire site, all in a new spot directly south of Centeroo. This year will feature all the classic Platinum amenities plus a dedicated Platinum vehicle entrance off Campground Road as well as a completely shaded and wooded campground with newly added access to the Artist Lounge. To learn more about VIP & Platinum, please see www.bonnaroo.com/vip-and-platinum.

Hailed by the New York Times as the summer event that “revolutionized the modern rock festival,” Bonnaroo continues to draw high profile media attention and critical acclaim with each passing year. “Bonnaroo 2019 found the festival’s identity again,” wrote Esquire, commending the “delightfully weird roster of jam bands, pop acts, dance music, country stars, and more.” “Bonnaroo roared back this year,” declared Rolling Stone in its annual “Bonnaroo 2019: 20 Best Things We Saw” wrap-up, while Consequence of Sound raved, “2019’s Roo got the ingredients right…a phenomenal celebration of music from hip-hop to rock and roll, Americana to EDM, and string bands to jam bands.” “Bonnaroo 2019 proved to be a return to form,” wrote Paste. “The Farm is still one of the best (or at least, most iconic) places to hear music in the country.” “While plenty of places have tried to replicate the ideal large, grassy field format,” enthused Uproxx, “no one does large and grassy quite like Bonnaroo…The festival itself had an aesthetic that translated across performers – and therefore across generations, demographics, and status levels – proving the event’s own personality has more influence on the experience than any artist who might play it…All in all, the whole festival was reminiscent of what’s going on in popular music, a finger on the pulse of what fans most want to see, but always spiked with a dash of Tennessee’s own flavor.”
