Exciting news for fans of legendary guitar great Jimmy Page...Robert Kinsler

October 15, 2020 - Today marks the beginning of the world wide roll out of Jimmy Page: The Anthology, starting in UK bookstores. Next week, the mass edition will be available in bookstores in the US, Europe, Australia and Asia Pacific, and in New Zealand in mid-November.

"In this book, I wanted to include items from my personal archive that have played a part in my overall story, to give the detail behind the detail."– Jimmy Page

From his early days as a young session musician, through his years on the world stage with Led Zeppelin, to his solo work and collaborations, Jimmy Page has lived a spectacular life in music. Throughout it all, he has amassed an extensive private archive of iconic guitars, stage costumes and personal memorabilia.

Now, in The Anthology, Jimmy Page is granting exclusive access to his archive for the first time, and telling the inside story of his phenomenal career.

In a new text of over 70,000 words, Jimmy Page guides the reader through hundreds of rare items, many of which are previously unseen, and others of mythic status, such as the Gibson double neck guitar, his dragon-emblazoned suit, his white embroidered poppy suit, and the outfit worn in the concert film The Song Remains the Same.

Also included are handwritten diaries, correspondence, rare vinyl pressings, previously unpublished photographs and much, much more. Jimmy Page has personally selected each piece to be photographed in this book, which has been created with his full participation.

The result is Jimmy Page: The Anthology. Both reflective and revealing, it is quite simply the legendary musician’s most comprehensive and fascinating account of his life to date.

The first leg begins in March with one U.S. show at Harrah’s Resort Southern California on March 21st before the band head to Japan, starting in Fukuoka on March 27th and ending April 11th in Osaka (full dates listed below). August 2019 marks the 30th Anniversary of Ringo and His All Starr Band and they will hit the road for a celebratory tour which will kick off at Caesar's in Windsor on August 1st and then head to Ravinia near Chicago, Illinois to play two shows with the Beach Boys August 3rd and 4th and two shows at Nashville’s historic Ryman in Tennessee on August 7th and 8th.  The tour will conclude September 1st at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, California, nearly 30 years to the day when the inaugural All Starrs completed their first tour on September 3, 1989. (A full itinerary will be announced soon).

This month Another Day In The Life, Ringo’s third book with Genesis Publications, will be released in Limited Edition, while the hard cover will available in wide release in April 2019. Pre-orders for the limited edition can be made at www.ringobook.com. Following in the series that began with the sell-out success of Postcards From The Boys (2003) and Photograph (2013), this book will include previously unpublished photographs, captioned with Ringo’s observations and anecdotes. Reflecting his love of music, travel and nature, Another Day In The Life shows us the world as seen through Ringo’s eyes. From Los Angeles to Tokyo and everywhere in between, many of Ringo’s observational images celebrate the quirkiness of life.

November will also see Ringo honored when he receives the Humanitarian Award from the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF on “Giving Tuesday,” November 27, 2019 at their annual Snowflake Ball in New York City (see below for more information).

In a fitting comment taken from his upcoming book, Ringo wrote, "It's about changing one second so that people think peace and love, it's something I learned from the Maharishi. If you do something for good, the trees, the grass, the whole planet will support you - you're always loved. I live in that world."

That message of universal Peace & Love has become synonymous with Ringo, who has for over 10 years celebrated his birthday with a Peace & Love event. This July 7, 2019 will see it return to Los Angeles, and further details will be announced soon.

About Ringo
Born Richard Starkey on July 7, 1940, Sir Ringo Starr knew “at a very young age” what he wanted to do.   Since beginning his career with The Beatles in the 1960s, Ringo has been one of the world's brightest musical luminaries. He has enjoyed a successful, dynamic solo career as a singer, songwriter, drummer, collaborator, and producer.  He is a longtime advocate for humanitarian and environmental causes.

Throughout his career he has received nine GRAMMY® Awards, and has twice been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -- first as a Beatle and then as solo artist. Between 1970 and 2017, Ringo has released 19 solo studio records.  He has acted in over 15 films, received an Academy Award®, and has been nominated as an actor for an Emmy®. Ringo has published four books, his most recent, 'Another Day in the Life' was released in November 2018.  In March 2018 Ringo was knighted by Prince William, having been selected for the honor by Queen Elizabeth II for knighthood for his music and charity work.
For all his many creative successes, Ringo is and always will be first and foremost a musician, a drummer.  Peace and love are his life’s rhythm and melody, and he propels this universal message in everything he does: his evocative artwork, his enthused live performances, his legendary songs, all imbued with the joy, reflection, and wisdom of the music icon the world knows and loves simply as “Ringo.”

Genesis Publications Announce the Publication of Hello Goodbye: The Beatles in Tokyo 1966

Exciting news for fans of the Fab Four (and who isn't?). Here is a media release that just landed in my inbox...Wouldn't you love to get this under the Christmas Tree next month?

Genesis Publications announce the publication of
HELLO GOODBYE: THE BEATLES IN TOKYO 1966

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ inaugural visit to Tokyo in 1966, Genesis Publications announces a new volume of rare photos which intimately capture this fleeting time in the band’s final tour, painting a poignant image of their visit to Japan.

“This is a side of The Beatles – relaxed, comfortable and intrigued by a world that, for them, was new and exotic – that we don’t often see. And thanks to Asai, we are virtually in the suite with them.” – Allan Kozinn (from his introduction)

November 21, 2016 - HELLO, GOODBYE: THE BEATLES IN TOKYO, 1966 celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ visit to Japan on their final world tour. Taken by Japanese photographer Shimpei Asai, who was the only Japanese photographer to have gained access to The Beatles in Tokyo, these photos of the band have remained unknown to most outside Japan.

Following The Beatles from their arrival at Haneda airport, Tokyo, to their departure for the Philippines, Asai captures everything from their hotel rooms to their live performances, in an intimate portrait of the Fab Four near the end of their touring years. HELLO, GOODBYE offers a unique glimpse into the band’s visit to Japan, capturing their attempts to escape their hotel room to see Tokyo, and the controversy of their being the first rock act to perform at the tradition venue, the Nippon Budokan.

Interspersed throughout his photographs, are vignettes from Shimpei Asai, recalling the experience of photographing the Fab Four, and the atmosphere of their live shows.

“I first heard The Beatles accidentally on the radio. I had a feeling I had never experienced before. I was just stunned. I pulled over in my car and stopped by the road, and for a while I stared at the leaves of the trees trembling in the breeze.”
- Shimpei Asai

“The same thing will never happen to another group. Four personalities, their music, Brian Epstein and the staff who supported them, and the strong energy of fans made The Beatles.”
- Shimpei Asai

HELLO, GOODBYE: THE BEATLES IN TOKYO, 1966 is introduced with an essay by journalist and author Allan Kozinn, who considers the historical significance of The Beatles' visit, and the turning point they were about to reach with the release of Revolver.

“When The Beatles left England on 23 June, the album was still unnamed. Revolver was a contender, along with 'Abracadabra' and 'The Beatles on Safari'. It was in Tokyo, during the endless hours they sat in their suite at the Hilton, that they finally settled the matter, and on 2 July they cabled their decision to EMI in London.”
A limited edition of fine art prints is also
being made available
- Allan Kozinn (from his Introduction)

“A young photographer whose eye, and lens, caught both the public grandeur and intimate minutia of The Beatles' Japanese visit.”
- Allan Kozinn (from his Introduction)

‘I have always loved taking photos. All the Beatles had cameras – I think we bought a whole load on our first tour of Japan – but I’d been snapping away for a while before that. We always had a real photographer around us, like Dezo Hoffman and Bob Freeman who took a lot of photos of the Beatles for our album covers. But I took pictures of them photographing us – and I had a unique perspective of that incredible period of our lives. I hope you’ll enjoy a few unique Beatles memories with me.’
– RINGO STARR
