I’ll Be Your Girl found the band—lead vocalist and guitarist Colin Meloy, guitarist Chris Funk, keyboardist Jenny Conlee, bassist Nate Query, and drummer John Moen—embracing different influences and working with a new producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Lana del Rey) to broaden their sonic range and explore new approaches to making music. The album featured the #1 Triple A radio hit “Severed.”
