Los Angeles, CA - September 13, 2015 - THIS IS HALLOWEEN:  Los Angeles' reigning Pumpkin King, Danny Elfman, will take the concert stage at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday October 31 at 8:15pm  performing his role of Jack Skellington singing live to film for a very special screening of Disney's timeless holiday classic, "TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS"

 

Joining Elfman will be a cast of singers and Special Guest Artists performing the film's acclaimed songs live.  Conductor John Mauceri will be making his triumphant return to the Hollywood Bowl where he was the Founding Director of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and served for 15 years as Conductor, Principal Conductor and Director. Maestro Mauceri will conduct a full orchestra and choir performing the film's classic score and songs live to picture.

 

Not since Elfman's iconic Oingo Boingo Halloween concerts have his fans been offered such a holiday treat.

Danny Elfman composed the songs (music and lyrics), the score and was the original singing voice of Jack Skellington. 

 

First released in 1993, Tim Burton's THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS was directed by Henry Selick (JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH), and based on a story and characters by Tim Burton. The film follows the earnest-but-misguided adventures of Jack Skellington, Halloween Town's beloved Pumpkin King, as he attempts to take over the Christmas holiday. Against the advice of Sally, a lonely rag doll who has feelings for him, Jack enlists three mischievous trick-or-treaters - Lock, Shock, and Barrel - to help him kidnap Santa Claus. The film is rated "PG".

Tell me more: Singer-songwriter Marshall Crenshaw isn't afraid to mix things up. Evidence the Detroit, Michigan native's excellent new #392: The EP Collection, a 14-track disc that features a dozen songs drawn from his purposeful series of six 10-inch vinyl EPs that the singer-guitarist released between 2013 and 2015, as well as a pair of never-before-heard tracks specifically included in this new set. Crenshaw's wide-ranging approach is to create lush soundscapes that totally support the songs (both his own, or artful remakes). The original "Red Wine" finds Crenshaw's emotive vocal delivery positioned amidst a lush mix highlighted by shimmering guitars and organ, while "Move Now" works as both a hypnotic rocker and compelling glimpse into the modern world. An involving tale of romantic departure is rendered via the jazz-rock nugget "Stranger and Stranger," this featuring Crenshaw's excellent lead guitar work. Tell me more: Even when separated from the 1995 animated Disney classic that creatively mixed history and fantasy, The Legacy Collection: Pocahontas soundtrack is a joyful listen. Composer Alan Menken's instrumental score, as well as the songs he composed with lyricist Stephen Schwartz, shine bright more than 20 years after their creation on the newly-issued "The Legacy Collection: Pocahontas." The centerpiece "Colors of the Wind" is one of the decade's best film-related songs (far besting "My Heart Will Go On" from 1997's Titanic), and the new deluxe edition features that gem along with a number of other wonderful songs. Singer Judy Kuhn has a beautiful soprano, as heard on the soaring "Just Around the Riverbend" and dramatic "Epiphany/Savages" which features a mix of solo voices and chorus. On October 30, Eagle Rock Entertainment and Zappa's Honker Home Video will issue the never-before-released Frank Zappa’s Roxy: The Movie on DVD & Blu-Ray with an exclusive Soundtrack included.

 

A Frank Zappa show goes way beyond a mere concert – it is an experience…a flight of improvisation, musicianship, and cerebral cynicism.  An unparalleled composer and guitarist, Zappa redefined rock n roll paradigms by introducing  into the mix his favorite influences from classical music, jazz, blues, doowop, traditional and non-traditional music.  And he did so with unparalleled humor and audacity.  But it was the music itself that influenced generations of musicians and, quite frankly, blew minds.  Roxy: The Movie, filmed over three nights in December 1973, at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood, CA, is a powerful display of this experience, and reveals what made him such a pioneering musical revolutionary.

 

Right from the top of the program, the film exudes the essence of Zappa, as we only see a dark room with a single light, and we hear him commiserating with the audience, as he stalls for time because of technical snafus that would ultimately force the film into hibernation for decades (make that eras in musical terms) while advancement in technology aligned allowing the Zappa Family Trust to bring this project to a patient and deserving audience.  The curtain goes up and the magic unravels to reveal “Cosmic Debris” and we are up and away with one of the most enduring band line-ups under Frank Zappa's leadership.

Garbage today announced they will release a special 20th Anniversary Edition of their critically acclaimed self-titled album in celebration of its historical debut. The new version will be re-mastered from the original analog tapes and feature all of the remixes and previously unreleased tracks from the lauded album. ABOUT GARBAGE

Garbage is Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker and Butch Vig. After forming in Madison, WI, Garbage released their self-titled debut album in 1995. The band's unique sound and provocative visual aesthetic, inspired massive worldwide attention and success. Their follow up album, Version 2.0, released in 1998, topped charts all over the world and garnered multiple GRAMMY Award® nominations including Album Of The Year. Garbage went on to release two more albums: 2001's Beautiful Garbage and 2005's Bleed Like Me, the latter which earned the band its highest chart position with a No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. After a 7-year hiatus, the band released their fifth studio album Not Your Kind of Peoplein 2012 on their independent record label, Stun Volume. The album was named one of Rolling Stone magazine'sTop 50 Albums of 2012 and was hailed as the "alternative to everything," by Pitchfork. Garbage has sold over 12 million albums worldwide and performed in over thirty-five countries. The band is currently working on their sixth studio album, set for release early next year.
