Inbox Update: Johnny Marr Unveils New Song "The It-Switch" and Announces U.S. Fall Tour

Johnny Marr not only delivered one of the best performances that I caught at Coachella 2013, but has released one of the finest albums I've heard yet in 2013. Here is the latest news as his solo career continues to soar...I'm hoping I get to catch his performance on Halloween night here in Orange County, California!

JOHNNY MARR UNVEILS NEW SONG "THE IT-SWITCH"; ANNOUNCES NATIONWIDE U.S. TOUR THIS FALL
CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED SOLO DEBUT THE MESSENGER OUT NOW

Johnny Marr

Johnny Marr has written and recorded a new song, "The It-Switch", which is streaming now at Pitchfork. The song is the b-side to Marr's new single "New Town Velocity," a track from his celebrated solo debut The Messenger (Sire/ADA) out earlier this year to overwhelming worldwide acclaim. The single will be released exclusively in the U.K. next week as a limited edition 7" vinyl, and an iTunes download.

Marr will return to the U.S. this fall, headlining a nationwide tour that kicks off on the West Coast on October 31 and includes a stop at Austin's Fun Fun Fun Festival. The 4-week trek builds upon Marr's well-received spring tour that included a show-stopping set at Coachella and a performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon where he performed his single "The Messenger" before launching into a thrilling rendition of The Smiths' classic "How Soon Is Now."

The release of The Messenger marks a significant milestone in Marr's distinguished career. First known for his work as the creative force behind The Smiths, Marr has spent the last two decades collaborating with a diverse array of acclaimed bands, including Talking HeadsPet Shop BoysThe TheElectronic, Modest Mouse, The Cribs and more. One of the most celebrated and influential artists in the history of contemporary music, Marr has earned recognition as one of the greatest guitar players of all time from such outlets as Rolling Stone and SPIN, and most recently earning NME's Godlike Genius award. With The Messenger, Marr continues to evolve as he steps into the spotlight for the first true solo album of his career.
