New York, NY (March 21, 2023) — Mercury Records will release A Night At The Family Dog (1970), Go Ride The Music and West Pole (1969), three psychedelic trips down memory lane, on May 12, 2023 as a 2 DVD package, complete with new artwork and ‘60s-styled poster. All three films were originally produced and created as groundbreaking television documentaries by Ralph J. Gleason [1917-1975] who did more than any other journalist to hip the world to what was shakin’ in San Francisco in the late ‘60s. A Night At The Family Dog held on February 4, 1970, featured the brightest three lights of the Bay Area, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead and Santana. These three bands would define a scene that had the whole world wondering what exactly was going on in the Haight-Ashbury section of San Francisco. A Night At The Family Dog starts with two iconic Santana performances before Grateful Dead covers Otis Redding. Jefferson Airplane then splits the club wide open with their patented incendiary and provocative performance style. And when Carlos Santana, Jerry Garcia, Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady and Paul Kantner kick out the jams to end it all, all hell breaks loose. The original mono recording has been remixed and remastered. The San Francisco Sound, as it became to be known, was a montage of shrieking guitars and bold now-classic Acid Rock. Go Ride The Music is a stunning document of Jefferson Airplane and Quicksilver Messenger Service (a band destined for stardom who short-circuited their own success). There are also cameo appearances from David Crosby and Jerry Garcia. West Pole captures the magnetic attraction of musicians who provoked the establishment enough to create national news. Gleason knew it. And via his writings, eventually so did the rest of America. Here’s a chance to witness first-hand the birth of a culture: Steve Miller Band, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service and others. Those born too late to experience first-hand just what made this city at this time so significant will finally understand. Even Beatle George Harrison had to visit from England to see what the fuss was all about. It was a time of wild experimentation. Poetry, music, film, journalism, sex, drugs and political activism shared the spotlight as American Culture itself began to shapeshift into forms heretofore unknown.

Legendary Guitarist Carlos Santana spreads Peace, Love, Light and “Joy” on new song with Chris Stapleton

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 11, 2021) – Multi-Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Carlos Santana has released the fourth song off his star-studded, masterful new album, Blessings and Miracles (out via BMG on October 15), a collaboration with acclaimed Grammy-winning musician Chris Stapleton, who also produced the track, on the soul-enriching “Joy.”

Spend a few minutes around Carlos Santana, and you’re bound to hear the word “joy” more than a few times, so it’s only fitting that the album’s fourth song, which teams the guitarist with Stapleton, is called “Joy.”

 

It’s a marvel that unfolds almost cinematically – one can envision mountain vistas and expansive plains – blending country, reggae, blues and gospel with a widescreen sing-along chorus. Stapleton is in peak form, plaintive and passionate, and Santana’s guitar playing, each immaculate solo and response, rises to meet him.

 

“I was very intrigued to work with Chris,” Santana says. “We talked on the phone about the Covid situation and how there’s so much fear in the world, and I said, ‘We need to create music as a healing force. We must bring hope and courage and disinfect twisted minds infected with darkness.’ That gave him the ammunition to write such incredible words. Somewhere I said, ‘flying on the wings of angels,’ so it’s a collaboration. And what an incredible song it is. The choir in it – it’s like the Staple Singers.”

 

In addition to “Joy,” the album’s first single “Move,” featuring Rob Thomas and American Authors, Santana’s collaboration “She’s Fire” with Diane Warren and G-Eazy, and the classic “Whiter Shade of Pale” featuring Steve Winwood is available now. 

 

Blessings and Miracles is one of the most ambitious, inspired and magical albums of Santana’s storied career, on which the legendary guitarist aims higher than ever. “The title of this album comes from my belief that we’re born with heavenly powers that allow us to create blessings and miracles,” Santana says. “The world programs you to be unworthy of those gifts, but we have to utilize light, spirit and soul – they’re indestructible and immutable. Those are the three main elements on this album.”

 

In addition to the above talents, Blessings and Miracles sees Santana collaborating with a diverse host of brilliant artists, writers and producers including Chris Stapleton, Chick Corea, Rick Rubin, Corey Glover, Kirk Hammett, Ally Brookeand Narada Michael Walden, among others, on genre-bending, hook-filled knockout musical celebrations.

 

The record also features bravura performances from members of Santana’s touring band (including drummer Cindy Blackman Santana, singer Tommy Anthony, bassist Benny Rietveld, percussionist Karl Perazzo, and keyboardist David K. Matthews), as well as impeccable vocals and keyboards by the guitarist’s son, Salvador Santana, and stunning lead vocals by daughter, Stella Santana.

Multiplatinum Icelandic quintet OF MONSTERS AND MEN announce their new album FEVER DREAM to be released on July 26, 2019.

Finally, in celebration of the new music, the band have confirmed the television debut performance of “Alligator”on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (NBC) on May 15^th.

Released just last week “Alligator” has already turned heads with NME praising it as having “a bombastic and driving sound” and Line of Best Fit calling it “undeniably catchy.” In addition, “Alligator” song was the #1 greatest gainer at alternative and #1 most added at Triple A radio - receiving strong support from those who have long awaited for the band’s return.

On “Alligator” co-vocalist Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdóttir has taken center stage on the song not only as the lead vocalist, but also wrote the track as well. On the empowering anthem and what is coming next for the band they noted, "We are so excited about Alligator, the first release from our upcoming album. The song very much speaks to the excitement and energy that we feel about being back. We can’t wait to share more music and see everyone again.”
FEVER DREAM was co-produced by Rich Costey (MUSE, Vampire Weekend, Chvrches) and is the band’s third studio album.

OF MONSTERS AND MEN went from the talk of Iceland to the top of the global conversation on their 2011 debut, My Head Is An Animal. Not only did the record go platinum, but it also produced an international smash in the form of “Little Talks.” The breakthrough single earned a quintuple-platinum certification from the RIAA, made history as “the first song by an Icelandic band to cross 1 billion streams on Spotify,” and landed the band a performance on Saturday Night Live. The group appeared on official soundtracks for franchises such asThe Hunger Games, The Walking Dead, and Beat Bugs, to name a few.
