Jeff Healey's "Heal My Soul: Deluxe Edition" 2CD set for release May 22, 2020

Very exciting to see the late blues great Jeff Healey's celebrated album 'Heal My Soul' is going to be reissued as a 2CD deluxe edition on May 22. Following is a media release with all the details...

Eagle Rock Entertainment to release Jeff Healey's 'Heal My Soul: Deluxe Edition' on Friday, May 22, 2020

On May 22, Eagle Rock Entertainment will celebrate the genius of guitarist/blues-rock vocalist Jeff Healey, with the release of a 2-disc deluxe edition of Heal My Soul. For the first time, this critically acclaimed masterpiece will be packaged with its companion album Holding On. This will also be released on digital formats.
Originally released on what would have been Healey’s 50th birthday in 2016, Heal My Soul was a “lost” album of 12 unheard songs recorded over a three-year period (from 1996-98). Written during a tumultuous period in The Jeff Healey Band’s history, these songs were shelved until his estate unearthed and restored these songs after his passing in 2008. It was a big endeavor, per Roger Costa (co-administrator/ archivist of Jeff Healey’s estate): they had to research the lost songs, recover two-inch masters, transfer the tracks to digital, and remix/remaster. “There were a lot of moments when everyone was getting choked up,” Costa states. “It was like he was there. It was like he was never gone.”
Holding On was always intended to be released as a companion to Heal My Soul - a dream that finally comes to light with this deluxe edition release. The album is a blend of five additional studio tracks and a live performance from Rockefeller Music Hall in Oslo, Norway. Accentuating the songs on Heal My SoulHolding On serves as the perfect complement, painting the full picture of his musical direction at this time in his career.
Live in Oslo, with Healey Band veteran guitarist Pat Rush in tow, The Jeff Healey Band tore through a set of great covers and classics. Despite having to deal with some radio interference from his wireless rig between songs, Jeff was on fire that night. Then there’s the breathtaking version of Mark Knopfler’s “I Think I Love You Too Much” (which Jeff originally recorded with Knopfler for 1990’s Hell To Pay). The set is closed off by a great, playful 8 1/2 minute take on Jeff’s signature tune, “See The Light,” Jeff and Pat weaving sonic shapes that leave the audience breathless.
A Grammy nominee and JUNO Award winner, Jeff Healey amassed millions of sales worldwide with the five albums released by his Jeff Healey Band. Blind since childhood due to a rare form of eye cancer, he developed a revolutionary style of guitar playing, laying it flat like a lap-steel and fretting with all five fingers. Described by Steve Lukather as “a musician’s musician,” his instrumental dexterity allowed him to deftly maneuver between rock, blues, and jazz. His contributions to music led Healey to be inducted into the Terry Fox Hall Of Fame in 2019 (an organization recognizing Canadians who made significant contributions to enrich the lives of those with physical disabilities).
A powerful collection of material from one of Healey’s most creative periods, this deluxe edition of Heal My Soul is a majestic display of his unmatched virtuosity.

Inbox Update: Jeff Healey Band 'Live at the Horseshoe Tavern' coming October 7th

EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT TO RELEASE
THE JEFF HEALEY BAND
LIVE AT THE HORSESHOE TAVERN
~NORTH AMERICAN CD, DIGITAL AUDIO RELEASE~
~OCTOBER 7, 2014~

On October 7, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Live At The Horseshoe Tavern from the Jeff Healey Band on CD and Digital Audio [MSRP $13.98]

In December 1993, The Jeff Healey Band was completing their tour in support of the recently released Feel This album, which culminated in several nights at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern, in their hometown of Toronto. Embellished by two backup singers and keyboard player Washington Savage, The Jeff Healey Band delivered a homecoming barnburner, blazing with favorites like “See The Light,” “Roadhouse Blues,” and “Baby’s Lookin’ Hot.” Nestled in-between the high-energy set list was a 3-song acoustic set, including “That’s What They Say,” “You’re Coming Home,” and “Angel Eyes,” as well as stellar set-closing covers of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “The Thrill Is Gone.” It was a well-rounded set, made all the more special by performing in their hometown.

Live At The Horseshoe Tavern is one of several classic Jeff Healey Band concerts that Eagle Rock has unveiled from the vaults, including Live From NYC (2013), Live At Grossman’s (2011), Full Circle – The Live Anthology (2011), and Live At Montreux (2005). The band was helmed by guitarist/vocalist Jeff Healey, who lost his sight at infancy. However, one can say that made his sense of sound that much stronger: a masterful musician with a unique style, he championed the lap pedal-steel style of blues guitar. His soulful vocals, instrumental dexterity, and ability to traverse genre styles won over blues and blues-rock fans the world over, until his untimely passing in 2008.

Live At The Horseshoe Tavern brilliantly captures the power of the Jeff Healey Band live.
Band Line-up:
Jeff Healey – guitars & vocals
Joe Rockman – bass & background vocals
Tom Stephen – drums
Washington Savage - Keyboards
Mischke & Toucu – Backing Vocals

Big news today on several high-profile upcoming releases...

EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS

JEFF HEALEY BAND
LIVE FROM NYC

~CD AND DIGITAL AUDIO OUT OCTOBER 15, 2013~

New York, NY (September 25, 2013)—Eagle Records is delighted to announce the October 15 release of the Live From NYC album from the Jeff Healey Band on CD and Audio Digital formats.

Live From NYC continues Eagle’s series of gems drawn from the vaults of the Jeff Healey Band. Recorded at The Bottom Line in New York City on December 13, 1988, this early show by the band, follows the release of their debut album See The Light (Arista Records). Several tracks from that album, are included along with classic covers such as ZZ Top’s “Blue Jean Blues” and Cream’s “White Room.”

Jeff Healey had a unique style and presence that was clearly already well developed at this early stage in his career, which Live From NYC captures beautifully. Having lost his sight at the age of one, he crafted himself into a master guitarist, championing the lap pedal-steel style. Able to deftly traverse genre styles with ease, his soulful vocals and instrumental dexterity won the hearts of blues and blues-rock fans worldwide. An incredible talent gone too soon (he passed away in 2008), Jeff Healey created music that still thrills and inspires fans to this day.

Eagle Rock Entertainment has also re-issued the Jeff Healey Band’s Get Me Some and House On Fire, and released Live At Grossman’s 1994 CD and Full Circle – The Live Anthology boxed set.

New Model Army
Between Dog And Wolf
earMusic / Eagle Rock Entertainment
30 September 2013
New Model Army and earMUSIC/ Eagle Rock Entertainment are excited to announce the release of their much-heralded new album

Between Dog And Wolf
~September 30, 2013~

New York, NY (August 20, 2013)—Experience the passion of UK post punk visionaries New Model Army with the release of their new studio album, Between Dog And Wolf on September 30, 2013, via earMusic / Eagle Rock Entertainment. A rich, vibrant and multi-layered work with a deep and soulful atmosphere, the album promises to be something “very different” from previous releases and demonstrates how the band is enjoying an exciting phase in their long and successful career. [MSRP $13.98]

Originally as a three piece, New Model Army were formed in Bradford, UK in 1980 by Justin Sullivan. With hits like “51st State” and “Vagabonds,” to name just a few, New Model Army built a reputation for dealing with challenging topics in their lyrics such as justice, the meaning of life, nature or grievances in society. The band established themselves as having an uncanny ability to convey and trigger powerful emotions, particularly through the distinctive voice of Justin Sullivan.

Between Dog And Wolf features the current line-up of Sullivan,Michael Dean on drums, Dean White on keyboards, Marshall Gill on guitar and 26-year-old new bass player, Ceri Monger, whose presence has added to the band’s creative and live resurgence. The self-produced set was finished earlier this yearand was mixed by Joe Barresi in his Los Angeles studio, best known for his work with ToolQueens Of The Stone AgeBad Religion and Soundgarden.

“After a series of purist ‘rock-band-in-a-room’ albums over the last eight years, we felt it was time to do something a bit different,” statesSullivan. “Sonically this is the best album we’ve ever made. The title comes from a medieval French expression for dusk – when it’s hard to distinguish between dog and wolf, friend or foe. That sense of contradiction represents the band very well and there’s also something of this sense of transformation in the album. It has been a stormy four years since the release of the last album. With the sudden death of our manager, the loss of our studio in a fire, subsequent theft of remaining equipment and our old bass player Nelson’s departure, we, in essence, lost everything. We used this to make a new beginning and part of the change was effected with the arrival of Ceri and the refreshing energy and musical influences he brought.  We are very excited about the new album and what the future holds for the band.”

Ceri adds  “I have loved New Model Army’s music for many years and am chuffed to be a part of this incredible album.  I think the record is pretty unique and I look forward to hearing what peoplethink when they hear it.”

The album’s stunning artwork is based around a painting by long time artistic collaborator Joolz.

Said Joolz, ”I always hear the albums being created from the first acoustic strum onwards and it quickly became obvious that this album was going to be different in sound from previous records.  Early on Justinsaw some artwork I had designed originally for a tattoo client of mine, an image of Herne the Hunter and the Herlathing, and the primitive tribal paganism of the picture really symbolized to him the heavy pounding drum rhythms and passions that are at the heart of this album.”

THE JEFF HEALEY BAND IS LIVE IN BELGIUM ON NEW EAGLE ROCK DVD/CD PACKAGE

Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to continue its Jeff Healey Band archival series with the April 3, 2012 DVD-CD release of Live In Belgium.

Touring in 1993 in support of their Feel This album, The Jeff Healey Band hit The Peer Blues Festival in Belgium running! The double-disc package-which includes the show both visually and aurally-contains 12 tight, taut gems in Dolby Digital Stereo and Dolby 5.1. The songs are highlighted by Healey's soulful vocals and his wild'n'wooly over-the-top electric guitar solos, played in his inimitable style on his lap like a dobro. His visceral, energetic performance sets the crowd buzzing right from note #1.

The 82 minutes fly by as Healey really gets into his signature cover of George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as well as "Roadhouse Blues" by The Doors and some of his own classic tracks including "Angel Eyes" and "Full Circle." Making this particular performance special is the fact that the trio is augmented by two backing vocalists and a keyboard player. This takes the presentation up to a whole new level as the band is, in effect, doubled. Besides the Feel This material, Healey performs tracks off his very popular See The Light and Hell To Pay albums.

Jeff Healey (1966-2008) was a Canadian singer/songwriter/guitarist of mammoth talent who fused a love of blues and rockin' anthems into a jam-happy stew of crowd-crazy proportions. He could sing like an angel, sting like a bee on his axe and perform like he was born to do so.

Eagle Rock Entertainment celebrates the life of Jeff Healey (1966-2008) with the November 1 release of Full Circle: The Live Anthology, a beautifully packaged boxed set containing three CDs and one DVD. [MSRP $29.98]

Known as one of the great guitar players of his generation, Healey, blind since age one, played the guitar on his lap, pedal-steel style. His soulful vocals and instrumental dexterity criss-crossed genres with ease but his heart was firmly entrenched within the blues-rock tradition.

Three complete concerts, captured in stunning aural clarity (Dolby Digital Stereo) are represented in this incredible set. CURT SMITH ANNOUNCES RELEASE DATE FOR “MAYFIELD”

Tears For Fears Co-Founder To Reissue Out Of Print Solo Album

Tears For Fears co-founder Curt Smith has announced that he’ll be re-releasing his long out-of-print solo album, Mayfield, on November 15, 2011 via his own KOOK Media imprint and eOne Music Canada (for Canadian digital sales). The release will include a new bonus track, “Trees,” featuring Janice Whaley.

“Mayfield was a band I formed after moving to New York, a couple of years into my hiatus from Tears For Fears,” Smith says. “The premise was to not use my name (hence “Mayfield”: Curt-is Mayfield, get it?) and just try to rediscover the joys of music through playing live. We played at downtown New York clubs like Brownie’s, Mercury Lounge and CBGB’s. Those were a couple of the most enjoyable years I’ve spent as a musician.”

The songs on Mayfield, written with Smith’s longtime collaborator Charlton Pettus, were recorded live, with overdubbing and editing used sparingly. The album, released in 1997, was recorded in just three weeks. In addition to Smith (who played bass and handled all the lead vocals), Mayfield’s members included Pettus on guitar and backing vocals, Doug Petty on keyboards, Russ Irwin on keyboards and backing vocals, and Shawn Pelton on drums. Petty and Pettus have played in the Tears For Fears touring band since 2004.

The album’s original tracklist remains intact, and includes a bonus re-recording of the song “Trees.” Musician Janice Whaley, known for “The Smiths Project,” used multiple loops of her own voice as the instrument bed for the track, to mesmerizing effect, and Smith laid down a new lead vocal. Fans who already own Mayfield will be able to purchase the bonus track by itself via digital download.

“Mayfield” will be available in digital format from all major online retailers, and in physical CD format from Amazon.com and at Smith’s shows. Smith also plans a limited edition Mayfield deluxe bundle that will include exclusive collectibles, which will be available only on his website at curtsmithofficial.com.
