William Shatner has announced his very first holiday album: Shatner Claus – The Christmas Album’(October 26/Cleopatra Records). Shatner has assembled a truly eclectic roster of vanguards, icons and misfits for a holiday album unlike any that have come before it. The legend of stage, screen and spoken word has taken 13 holiday classics and turned them on their head, joined by the likes of Henry Rollins, Iggy Pop, Brad Paisley, Judy Collins, Billy Gibbons, Rick Wakeman, Todd Rundgren and more. See below for full track list and credits.

Listen to “Jingle Bells” featuring Henry Rollins here:

‘Shatner Claus’ gets into the holiday spirit from the very first notes. A sweeping set of strings introduces “Jingle Bells,” but the song quickly becomes amplified as William and Henry Rollins trade lyrical duties over an increasingly rambunctious beat. Next comes a grooving honky-tonk rendition of “Blue Christmas” with Brad Paisley. As the album unfurls it weaves through jazz, blues, rockabilly, bossa nova and beyond, balancing joyful and sentimental moments with blazing rock n’ roll, and big guitar solos from the likes of Billy Gibbons and Todd Rungdren. Other highlights include a memorable duet with Iggy Pop on “Silent Night,” and a tremendous presentation of keyboards courtesy of Rick Wakeman on “O Come O Come Emanuel.” A bonus track version of an even more revved-up version of “Jingle Bells,” also featuring Henry Rollins, is labeled “Punk Rock Version.”

William Shatner has cultivated a career spanning over 50 years as an award-winning actor, director, producer, writer, recording artist, and horseman. He is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable figures and a major philanthropist. He released his first studio album in 1968. In 2018 alone he has published a book and released an album of country music. ‘Shatner Claus’ is William’s third album for Cleopatra Records, following 2011’s ‘Seeking Major Tom’ and 2013’s Ponder The Mystery.

Ian Anderson Presents '50 Years of Jethro Tull' at the Greek Theatre

Very cool news...

Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull
LOS ANGELES, CA (November 14, 2017) – It was on the 2nd of February 1968 at the world-famous Marquee Club in Wardour Street that Jethro Tull first performed under that name. The group would go on to become one of the most successful and enduring bands of their era, selling over 60 million albums worldwide and entering the cultural collective consciousness along the way.

To celebrate this golden anniversary, Ian Anderson will present 50 years of Jethro Tull at the Greek Theatre, Los Angeles on Friday, June 1.  Tickets on sale Friday, November 17 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com.

The debut album, This Was, was released later that same year.  Founder, frontman and flautist, Ian Anderson, is rightly credited with introducing the flute to rock as a front line instrument, not to mention the codpiece!

Jethro Tull are one of the biggest selling Progressive Rock artists of all time and their immense and diverse catalogue of work encompasses folk, blues, classical and heavy rock. The anniversary concerts will feature a broad mix of material, some of it focusing on the earlier formative period through to the “heavy hitters” of the Tull catalogue from the albums This Was, Stand Up, Benefit, Aqualung, Thick As A Brick, Too Old To Rock And Roll: Too Young To Die, Songs From The Wood, Heavy Horses, Crest Of A Knave and even a touch of TAAB2 from 2012.

Anderson says:  “I am not usually a birthday or anniversary kind of guy but, just for once, I won't be a party-pooper either! I treasure the memories of the earlier years of Jethro Tull repertoire, associated as it is with the adventures of visiting so many countries for the first time to connect with new fans around the world. And this is a celebration of all the 33 band members who graced our ranks - musicians who brought their talents, skills and styles to bear on the performances live and in the studio. Join me and the current band for a nostalgic evening of varied music, representative of my ever-changing songwriting as our careers progressed through the years.”

Ian Anderson is accompanied by Tull band musicians David Goodier (bass), John O'Hara (keyboards), Florian Opahle (guitar), Scott Hammond (drums) and surprise virtual guests.

-Roger Taylor
June 5, 1982. Queen take the stage at England’s Milton Keynes Bowl, as part of the Hot Space Tour. Magic ensues.
On May 21, 2013, Eagle Rock Entertainment will re-issue Queen On Fire: Live at the Bowl on 2DVD and Digital Video.
In 1982, Queen (Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon) was, truly, on fire, playing more than 60 sell-out concerts in the world’s biggest arenas. 170 minutes deep, this two-disc set has been extensively restored from the original sound and footage. Disc 1 presents the performance in its entirety, filmed by Gavin Taylor. “Flash,” “Somebody To Love,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are The Champions,” and two versions of “We Will Rock You” are just part of the electrifying set list.
Disc 2 features a wealth of bonus material, including interviews, a photo gallery, and bonus performances at Tokyo’s Seibu Stadium (November 3, 1982) and Vienna’s Stadthalle (May 12, 1982). The interviews encompassed are a behind-the-scenes look at Milton Keynes as the crew preps the massive stage show, a chat with Freddie Mercury in Munich on during the European leg of the Hot Space tour, and an interview with Brian May and Roger Taylor.

ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!
THE DECADE OF QUEEN V TO BE RELEASED JUNE 25, 2013
ON ROYAL NOISE
The rock world will bow down to Queen V on June 25 when Royal Noise Records releases The Decade Of Queen V.
Filled with one blistering hard rocker after another, featuring the tough yet soulful, passionate and empowered vocals of Queen V, backed by an army of guitar slingers (including herself), The Decade of Queen V encompasses her recorded output from 2005 to 2013.
“Calling myself Queen V was a way to challenge myself to really raise the game and try to hold my own with the people who I respect so much: bands like Queen, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, The Pretenders, Led Zeppelin, and David Bowie. And, of course, being a female rocker, there are inherent challenges as rock is a bit of a boy’s club…but I definitely like to hang out and hold my own with the fellas,” she says.
The album opens with “Revolution Baby” (2009) where Queen V snarls “if you think you own me, go to hell,” complete with a Led Zeppelin-styled blues-harp by Jon Paris, and ends with “Wasted” (2009), an anthem-for-the-ages co-written by Motorhead’s Lemmy who shares vocal duties with V.
Other highlights on the album include the brand new “Cry Your Eyes Out,” the gutsy “My Machine (2009), which features a burning lead guitar solo by Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), and the deeply moving “Right Or Wrong” (2005). The 11 tracks on The Decade Of Queen V show that V is not only a fierce Rock ‘N’ Roll siren, but also a nuanced and varied songwriter, able to traverse a diverse range of emotions.
This collection of songs spanning Queen V’s career are solid, strong, and powerful. “I’ve always believed that it’s about songwriting,” she says. “You can color and flavor music any way you want but it has to start with good songs.”
