"Aerosmith On Tour: 1973-85" available now

I want to help get the word out about this new book of special interest to fans of classic rock troupe Aerosmith...Robert Kinsler

'Aerosmith On Tour: 1973-1985' available now

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the formation of the classic Aerosmith lineup — Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton, and Joey Kramer — a new book, Aerosmith On Tour: 1973-1985, exhaustively chronicles for the first time the band's career on the road, from early gigs in high school auditoriums and ratty clubs to headlining arenas and stadiums. Written by Julian Gill, Aerosmith On Tour: 1973-1985 unveils its tale via local reviews, eyewitness reports, press accounts and interviews with key insiders.

You'll join the "Bad Boys from Boston" as the band earns their stripes on the rock and roll battlefield the hard way opening for acts like The Kinks, Humble Pie and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, enjoying breakthrough success with albums Toys in the Attic and Rocks, imploding in the late '70s, a result of internal turmoil and substance abuse issues, before ending triumphantly with their successful "Back in the Saddle" 1984 reunion tour. The 612-page book is further augmented by a feast of visual material (concert and record ads, vintage reviews, and photographs) lending an engrossing portrait of America's greatest rock and roll band.

'AEROSMITH ROCKS DONINGTON 2014'
due out on multiple formats on Sept. 4, 2015 via Eagle Rock Entertainment

20-song collection captures legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famers in a career-spanning performance at the U.K.’S famed Donington Park

As AEROSMITH gears up for their 2015 summer tour, a date has been announced for the release of Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014.  Due out September 4, the 20-song collection captures the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famers delivering a scorching career-spanning show at the famed Donington Park in Leicestershire, UK in June 2014.  Filmed in high definition, the critically acclaimed concert film--which premiered in February with a highly successful nationwide theatrical run--will be available on multiple formats: Blu-ray+2CD, DVD+2CD, DVD+3LP and digital formats for North America and DVD, Blu-ray, DVD+2CD, DVD+3LP and digital formats for ROW/Europe.  Details about a special pre-sale--with bonus items--of Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014 will be available in the coming weeks.

Headlining the massive Download Festival as part of the band’s “Let Rock Rule” tour, Steven TylerJoe PerryJoey KramerTom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford unleashed supercharged versions of “Love In An Elevator,” “Janie’s Got A Gun,” “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing,” “Dude Looks Like A Lady,” “Walk This Way,” “Dream On,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Toys In The Attic,” “Mama Kin,” and many more.

In the Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014 liner notes, David Wild--Contributing Editor, Rolling Stone--describes the performance as having “the same kind of power and overwhelming passion that has always remained at the very heart of the live Aerosmith experience…So whether you were fortunate enough to be there among the crowds at Donington Park that gloriously atmospheric night in 2014--or more likely, if you are just lucky enough to catch up after the fact today--there is only one appropriate shared reaction to what you are seeing and hearing here: genuine rock & roll shock and awe.”

"It's always an absolute hoot that leaves me howling at the moon, performing at Donington we couldn't have had a better time on stage that night,” says Steven Tyler.  “I could feel the vibes of all the greats pulsing through the stage like AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica and so many more.”

“We have played Donington many times but this performance was one of our best,” recalls Joe Perry. “Thanks to our fans who were there who helped us make it a night to remember.  We are proud to have it be part of this theatrical series and it will give our fans who weren’t there around the world a chance to relive an ass kicking night of rock and roll.”

"We’re really proud and grateful to have been chosen to headline the Download festival at Donington for 2014,” Tom Hamilton adds. “It was an awesome experience and I think this film captures it.  Special thanks to the insane fans who stuck with us through mud and rain.”

“I'm grateful to have been able to play this show at Donington,” says Joey Kramer. “I thought the band played great, the audience was great. That night was a very special time.”

“Playing in Donington has always been a highlight of the tour for us,” adds Brad Whitford. “The fervor of the crowd there is a sight to behold and this night was no different.”

Fans can now bring home the live experience of Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014.  Breaking down the long-lasting appeal of the band and the contributions of each of its members, Wild writes in the liner notes:

●“Has any frontman ever stayed as deeply connected to the true spirit of rock & roll than Steven Tyler? The man’s muse does just not seem to contain an off-switch, and somehow he continues to have more energy onstage now than ever before…take a good look at Tyler on fire here…Tyler’s voice remains a tremendous force of nature…”

●“[Perry’s] delivered some of the most thrilling and iconic guitar solos in all of rock history…the man is not simply one of our all-time greatest guitarists…Perry has also more than earned his place in the Songwriters Hall of Fame along with Steven Tyler, further validation of their shared place as one of rock’s most respected songwriting teams ever.”

●“Among many other virtues, Aerosmith is arguably the most soulful band in rock history, and a lot of the credit for that goes to powerhouse yet funky drummer Joey Kramer…Kramer’s strong sense of feel provided Aerosmith with a solid foundation that keeps the band pumping…Kramer is the man credited with giving the band its eternally cool name.”

●“Rock solid bassist Tom Hamilton is much more than simply half of one of hard rock’s best and most versatile rhythm sections…Hamilton is not just a fine musician--he has also co-written a few of the most beloved Aerosmith classics…namely ‘Sweet Emotion’ and ‘Janie’s Got A Gun,’ as well as a number of other fan favorites.”

●“…[Brad Whitford is]…perhaps the group’s most effective secret musical weapon…known as Aerosmith’s band’s rhythm guitarist…Whitford has shown himself to be the absolute perfect guitar slinger to partner with Joe Perry--a more trained axe ace who has done so much to allow Aerosmith to consistently sound like a massive guitar army, and even better yet, one that always wins.”

Julian Lennon back with new music via duet with Steven Tyler

Before I head over to park and make the long walk to get into Coachella, I wanted to share this media release and related links with everyone! Good to hear Julian Lennon's songcraft again. It has been ages since we heard much from him...James McCartney is performing at Coachella 2013, wouldn't it be nice if Julian was there next year? I would love to see him in the desert...

ABOUT JULIAN LENNON
Julian Lennon’s sensitive and poetic vision of life courses through his exquisite photography, philanthropic pursuits, and his acclaimed music. On June 4th he returns with his first album in 15 years, the stunning Everything Changes (Music From Another Room), a masterwork of powerfully vulnerable and sophisticatedly accessible adult pop.

Julian’s melding of uplifting introspection and thoughtful social commentary with refined hooks has made for a compelling six-album body of work. His debut, Valotte (Atlantic), yielded two top ten hits—the title track and "Too Late for Goodbyes”—and was nominated for a Grammy for “Best New Artist.” He went on to have #1 singles on the U.S. album rock charts. Internationally, one of his most popular songs “Saltwater” charted successfully around the world, topping in Australia for four weeks and reached #6 in the UK. In advance of its June 4th U.S. release, his latest, Everything Changes (Music From Another Room), is already receiving national airplay and press plaudits nationally and internationally. The Sunday Press calls it a “revelation” and Herald Standard gushes Julian has “returned stronger and better than ever.”

Since 1998, Julian has devoted himself to altruistic concerns. He produced the compelling documentary whaledreamers that was shown at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and earned 8 International Film Festival Awards. In 2007, Julian founded The White Feather Foundation whose mission "embraces environmental and humanitarian issues and in conjunction with partners from around the world helps to raise funds for the betterment of all life, and to honor those who have truly made a difference."

He has emerged a renowned photographer, applying the warm candor of his vision in music to producing iconic images. Julian has worked extensively with U2, his brother Sean, and photographed his friend Charlene Wittstock, exclusively for Vogue, prior to her civil wedding to Prince Albert II of Monaco. His debut exhibition at the esteemed The Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York City garnered many outstanding reviews. He has followed this with two successful exhibitions at Art Basel Miami 2010 and 2012, among other venues internationally. He is currently preparing for a collaborative opening with Chinese artist Simon Ma, for the Venice Biennale 2013.

Everything Changes is a stunning achievement. It’s stately and intimate, and thoughtfully paced. Lyrically, it covers romance, introspection, and humanitarian concerns with artistic concision, mixing clever wordplay with emotional directness. The poignancy and poise of “Everything Changes” opens the album and sets a universally spiritual tone. The beautifully crafted lead off single “Someday” features mystical Eastern melodic motifs and boasts guest vocalist Steven Tyler. It engagingly combines Julian’s lifework as a philanthropist and gifted songwriter. Here, Julian sings pristinely with earnestness the timeless message: “We’re all in it together / One love, now and forever.” Other album standouts are the mesmerizing piano pop ballad "Lookin' 4 Luv" and the euphoric rocker “Just For You.”
Besides Steven Tyler, also guesting on the album is musician/producer Peter Vettese (Jethro Tull, Annie Lennox, Pet Shop Boys), singer-songwriter Paul Buchanan (Blue Nile), legendary songwriter Mark Spiro (Heart, Laura Branigan, Lita Ford),singer/producer/composer Tim Ellis, as well as longtime friends Justin Clayton, Gregory Darling, Matt Backer and Guy Pratt. Julian and Grant Ransom jointly produced the album.
Julian recently sang backing vocals on Aerosmith’s critically acclaimed comeback album. He returns to his music fans with new confidence and renewed purpose. Everything Changes has all the hallmarks of Julian Lennon’s classic, sublime lifestyle music, yet glows with tender wisdom gleaned from his many life explorations.
