Audio Fidelity To Release B.B. King & Eric Clapton “Riding With The King” On Limited Edition Numbered Hybrid SACD

Although we sadly loss B.B. King earlier this month, his music and legacy live on. Look no further than the forthcoming release of this special release via Audio Fidelity...

Audio Fidelity To Release B.B. King & Eric Clapton “Riding With The King” On Limited Edition Numbered Hybrid SACD

Two Masters Produce a Contemporary Blues Gem!

Camarillo, CA - In honor of the recent passing of blues guitar legend B.B. King, Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing B.B. King & Eric Clapton Riding With The King on Limited Hybrid SACD. This SACD should satisfy fans of King, Clapton and blues purists alike. Riding With The King was Eric Clapton's and B.B. King's first collaborative recording and it went on to win the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album. The album reached #1 on Billboard's Top Blues Albums.

They first performed together in 1967 when Clapton was 22 and a member of Cream. Clapton looked up to King and had always wanted to make an album with him. At the time of recording Clapton was 55 and King 74. Clapton arranged the session using many of his regular musicians, picked the songs, and co-produced with his partner Simon Climie. While this would appear to be a Clapton album recorded with King, Clapton gave King center-stage.

The set list includes lots of vintage King specialties, “Ten Long Years,” “Three O'Clock Blues,” “Days of Old,” “When My Heart Beats Like a Hammer,” as well as standards like “Hold On I'm Coming” and “Come Rain or Come Shine,” with some specially written and appropriate new material. King takes Clapton deeper into blues territory than he has ever gone alone and these two artists play the blues with conviction. There may never be another album that links the Delta Blues to modern rock with such style, grace, enthusiasm, and honesty.

SLASH--the iconic American rock guitarist, songwriter and film producer-today (May 7) announced the release of the song and video"Beneath The Savage Sun."

SLASH has partnered with International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) to raise awareness of the slaughter of elephants which is leading to their early extinction. To watch the video and get the song for free, DONATE (HERE) and TAKE ACTION (HERE). The U.S.-based charityIFAW works around the world on every aspect of the elephant crisis-on the front lines to stop the killing of elephants, in transit countries to stop the trafficking of ivory and in consumer countries to stop the demand for ivory products. For more information, visit: www.ifaw.org.

While on tour in South Africa, SLASH and the lead singer of his bandMYLES KENNEDY witnessed the devastation of the elephants first-hand and knew they had to act. Together, they wrote the song "Beneath The Savage Sun" from the perspective of an elephant whose family has been wiped out. The hypnotic rock song is a highlight on the group's critically acclaimed current album WORLD ON FIRE.

"An elephant is killed every 15 minutes for its ivory and the result is the elephant population has declined 95% in the past century," explainsSLASH. "Seeing that these majestic animals are on the path to extinction, possibly within the next decade, we wrote 'Beneath The Savage Sun' and partnered with IFAW. Donate to IFAW's work to take action and protect elephants."

IFAW's CEO Azzedine Downes expressed gratitude to SLASH and MYLES KENNEDY for calling attention to the current elephant poaching crisis, "To save elephants from this senseless slaughter, we need everyone to stand up and demand stronger protection and we need to help fund action on the ground in Africa and Asia. We are grateful to Slash, Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators for reaching out to their fans to share this important message."

SLASH and his band Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators are currently in the midst of a U.S. headlining tour which stops at Terminal 5 in New York City, tonight. Audio Fidelity To Release Billy Joel's Critically Acclaimed Third Album “Streetlife Serenade” On 4.0 Quad Multichannel Hybrid SACD

“A classic album by one of rock's foremost piano men”

Much to the excitement of Billy Joel fans worldwide, Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing Streetlife Serenade on 4.0 Quad Multichannel Hybrid SACD. Billy Joel is an incomparable musician, having sold more than 150 million records, he ranks as one of the most popular recording artists and respected entertainers in the world. Streetlife Serenade is Joel's third studio album originally released in 1974. This album usually gets overlooked when discussing Billy Joel's career, but all these years later, Streetlife Serenade may rank as one of his finest efforts. Joel keeps things lively and diversified from song to song. “The Great Suburban Showdown” and “Last of the Big Time Spenders” have an openly spaced, laid-back western vibe, not unlike what the Eagles were doing during their 1970s heyday. The spunky instrumentals “Root Beer Rag” and “The Mexican Connection” show off Joel's formidable piano-playing skills and are pure fun. “Weekend Song” is an awesomely rugged rocker and the quirky hit “The Entertainer” is sheer pop genius, both lyrically and sonically.

This was the last album that Billy Joel recorded with the singer-songwriter style. Most of the compositions look back intimately at Joel's life. The album has great arrangements and rhythms and lyrics that tell a story with feeling and hints that he had enough with California, enough with the music industry, enough with being a sensitive artist. It was time for Billy to say goodbye to Hollywood and head back home to New York.

The Great Suburban Showdown

Audio Fidelity To Release “The Best Of The Doors” On Quadraphonic 4.0 Multichannel Hybrid SACD

Audio Fidelity To Release “The Best Of The Doors” On Quadraphonic 4.0 Multichannel Hybrid SACD

Available in multichannel for the first time since 1970!

Camarillo, CA – Much to the excitement of Doors fans and music fans worldwide, Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing The Best Of The Doors -1973 On Quadraphonic 4.0 Multichannel Hybrid SACD! The 2-channel stereo and DSD layers of the hybrid SACD were remastered from the original 2-track tapes which are available for the first time since 1970. The 4.0 Quad layer mirrors the earlier CD-4 QuadraDisc format, Quadraphonic 8-Track and reel-to-reel tape. The Best of The Doors -1973 compilation album was also released in standard Stereo.
The Doors were among the most controversial, influential and unique rock acts of the 1960's and beyond, mostly because of Jim Morrison's wild, poetic lyrics and charismatic but unpredictable stage persona. After Morrison's death in 1971, the remaining members, Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robby Krieger continued as a trio until disbanding in 1973.
Each of the tracks on “The Best Of The Doors-1973” have been taken primarily from the original two-track masters of the eight albums recorded by the band between 1967 and 1971. Three of the band's studio albums, “The Doors” (1967), “L.A. Woman” (1971), and “Strange Days” (1967), were featured in the Rolling Stone list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The popular rock magazine also listed The Doors as “One of The 100 Greatest Artists of All Time!” As a matter of fact The Doors have been listed as one of the greatest artists of all time by many magazines and in 1993 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Audio Fidelity To Release '70s Hitmakers America's “Homecoming” Album on Limited Edition 5.1 Multichannel Hybrid SACD

“A classic treasure...One of the best albums from the early 70s!”

Camarillo, CA – Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing '70s hitmakers America's “Homecoming” album on Limited Edition 5.1 Multichannel Hybrid SACD in April 2015. America's 1972 “Homecoming” album includes one of their best known hits, “Ventura Highway” with it's creative acoustic guitar lines, smart vocal harmonies and spaced-out lyrics, it's a fan favorite and one of their best songs.

“Homecoming” was the band's second album and the trio were determined to avoid the “sophomore jinx” so when work began on the new album America pulled out all the stops to reach their goal. Their production maintains the acoustic guitar underpinning heard on the successful debut album but builds on the sound of that first record by featuring more electric guitar and keyboards.

“Homecoming” is a melodic album full of catchy folk ballads and great harmonies and features two other hits, “Don't Cross the River” and “Only in Your Heart.” Several other songs received heavy FM radio airplay. The album is a collection of thoughtful, well-written, and skillfully sung songs. It's one of America's better albums, possibly their best for “Homecoming” helped continue the band's popularity, reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart and was certified platinum by the RIAA.

'One Lost Day,' the new studio album from the Indigo Girls, set for release on June 2, 2015 via IG Recordings/Vanguard Records

It has been four years since the Indigo Girls released a new studio album. On June 2, their much-anticipated release ONE LOST DAY, will be available on IG Recordings/Vanguard Records. With the help of visionary new producer Jordan Brooke Hamlin (Lucy Wainwright Roche) and mixer Brian Joseph (Bon Iver, PHOX, Kathleen Edwards), Amy Ray and Emily Sailers have created a landscape of truly original sounds and stories ranging from stark intimacy to bombastic pop and grind.

On ONE LOST DAY, musicality, whimsy, rawness, sadness and joy move through each of the 13 tracks. This theme is especially evident on the first single, “Happy in the Sorrow Key,” written by Amy Ray.“I drew from lyrics I wrote during some of my travels with the IG’s,” Amy said. “I was thinking about the things that keep us weighed down with non-acceptance and a refusal to embrace impermanence and suffering. I don’t think you can make change for the good until you do, so it’s an activist part of me searching for a way to face reality and still have the energy and passion to work for good.”

ONE LOST DAY was recorded in studios in Nashville, TN and mixed at Justin Vernon’s April Base Studios in Fall Creek, WI and at the Parhelion Recording Studios in Atlanta, GA. Musicians Brady Blade and Carol Isaacs from the Indigo Girls’ Beauty Queen Sister returned, along with the Indigo Girls’ touring band. Additionally, Amy and Emily brought in Lex Price (k.d. lang, Mindy Smith), Butterfly Boucher (Ingrid Michaelson, Katie Herzig, Mat Kearney), Fred Eltringham (Sheryl Crow, The Wallflowers, Gigolo Aunts) and Chris Donohue (Dave Matthews, Patty Griffin, Lucinda Williams, Robert Plant) to bring a good dose of infectious energy and creativity to the scene.

“We took some chances on the making of ONE LOST DAY, with a new producer, engineer, and various musicians,” Emily said. “Stretching like that felt liberating to me. Each song tells a story of where we’ve been and what we’ve thought about, whom we’ve met, and the travels we’ve had. It is a travelogue on lessons learned and love lived. I’m so glad we brought Jordan Hamlin on board to take us to new musical landscapes for this group of songs. And my relationship with Amy feels further strengthened by the collection of these songs and the diligent effort to make them the best they could be.”

Amy mirrors Emily’s sentiments. “The title sums it up for me,” she said. “This is about the one lost day that rekindled and infused with our spirit to find that making music is just as vibrant and full of passion as it’s even been for us!”

The Indigo Girls will be hitting the road this summer following the release of ONE LOST DAY. Initial dates are listed below with more dates to be announced soon. Visit www.indigogirls.com for updates.

'Rabbit Hole' from Lotus Crush set for release on April 14
Hearts and Minds” from Upcoming Spring Album Available at iTunes Now

Seattle’s CaviGold Records is proud to announce Lotus Crush’s sophomore album, Rabbit Hole —an 11-song sonically-vast musical journey led by Terry McDermott's powerful and wide-ranging vocals— will be released April 14. Lotus Crush is Scottish singer McDermott (runner-up of The Voice 2012, Driveblind), guitarist Peter Klett (Candlebox), drummer Scott Mercado (Candlebox), guitarist Island Styles (Jimmy’s Chicken Shack) and bassist Mark Mattrey. Recorded at Seattle’s iconic Robert Lang Studios, the studio utilized for classic albums from Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, and more, Rabbit Hole is the finest work to date from the band of rock veterans.
The album is available for preorders now at iTunes

In January, Entertainment Weekly exclusively debuted the exciting first video from Lotus Crush’s Rabbit Hole at EW.com. The “Hearts and Minds” video stars C Thomas Howell (The OutsidersRed DawnSouthland) as the leader of a totalitarian government and was described by EW.com as, “a surprisingly intense military mini-drama.” In December 2014, Yahoo Music debuted the audio of “Hearts and Minds,” and lauded McDermott’s “perfect set of pipes.” “Hearts and Minds” is available on iTunes now.

Lotus Crush’s evolution began on the road in 2006 when Driveblind toured Europe with Candlebox (Styles and Mattrey are recent additions to the band). While on tour, the artists shared a love of seminal British bands such as The Verve, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and sowed what would be the seeds of a long-lasting relationship. The common influences of the band spurred the creative process and from their respective corners of the world (Seattle, Aberdeen and New Orleans) they went on to release their first project together, Half Light Morning in 2011. After getting together for what they thought was a single reunion show in 2014, the creative gears clicked and Lotus Crush was back.

Sights and Sounds: Blur, The Guess Who, Bill Kreutzmann, Steve Earle

Happy Friday everybody! While I will be trying to catch up on a few more Academy Awards-minded movies over the weekend leading up to the Oscars (I caught the James Brown biopic Get On Up last week and do recommend that one), I still wanted to share a few bits of music news headed into the weekend!

You can stream "Go Out" from Blur's forthcoming album The Magic Whip via the link here.

Audio Fidelity has announced plans to release The Best Of The Guess Who on limited edition 4.0 Quad Hybrid SACD.

Here are highlights of the media release on the forthcoming release, as well as a look at the great cover artwork too:

Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing The Guess Who's The Best Of The Guess Who album on Limited Edition 4.0 Quad Hybrid SACD in April 2015. They didn't have street cred; they didn't look like stars; and they weren't considered "cool" by the ultra hip and snooty underground FM rock crowd. But over the course of their career, The Guess Who created some of the most transcendent and electrifying pop music of the Seventies. The Guess Who stubbornly flew in the face of fashion, trends, and the flourishing progressive rock movement, and built an enduring body of work that illuminates their status as immensely gifted pop rock practitioners.

Though influenced by the British Invasion, The Guess Who were purely Canadian rockers. The band scored a string of Top Ten hits in the late '60s and early '70s, including the psychedelic-romantic smash "These Eyes" and the riff-rocking anthem "American Woman." The band was a huge success in the States and even performed at President Nixon's inaugural ball (with the acerbic "American Woman" conspicuously omitted from the set list).

Burton Cummings' throaty baritone vocals and guitarist Randy Bachman's theatrical riffs gave the band their versatile sound - and their rocking classics sound as vital today as they did when they were first released.

As a special bonus that audiophiles and fans alike are sure to enjoy, Audio Fidelity has included in each package a miniature version of the coveted psychedelic poster that was contained in the original 1971 vinyl album release!

Bill Kreutzmann, a founding member and drummer for every one of The Grateful Dead's 2,300+ concerts, has penned a memoir DEAL: My Three Decades of Drumming, Dreams, and Drugs with the Grateful Dead (St. Martin's Press) set for release on May 5, 2015.

The tell-all book will provide Kreutzmann to reflect on the band's 50th anniversary while recalling sharing the stage with his legendary band mates as well as the fabled likes of Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan and The Who.
