Jezebel premieres Rolling Stones "She's A Rainbow" video from "Their Satanic Majesties Request"

As if the classic Rolling Stones cut "She's A Rainbow" wasn't great enough, now there is a colorful new lyric video that captures the magic and beauty of the timeless song. No wonder the video already has more than 394,000 views...

OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO FOR THE ROLLING STONES’ “SHE’S A RAINBOW” PREMIERE ANNOUNCED

SONG IS PART OF THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST – 50th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL EDITION, OUT SEPTEMBER 22 FROM ABKCO

“She’s a Rainbow” by The Rolling Stones may be a half century old, but its official lyric video launched yesterday morning (Sept. 14, 2017) when it premiered on Jezebel, the Gawker-owned site geared towards women. The just-out video is a true visual reflection of the whimsical essence of the song. Directed by Lucy Dawkins and Tom Readdy for Yes Please Productions, the video presents a colorful and playful celebration of women through the ages from all walks of life. The subjects of Renaissance, Romantic and Classical art, Victorian theater, vintage ballerinas, traditional dancers, stars of the silent screen and mid-century groovers all rub shoulders in this psychedelic, kaleidoscopic collage. Jazz pianist/vocalist Mary Lou Williams, French painter Baudry’s painting The Pearl and the Wave, Russian dancer Lubowska in Cleopatra costume, and Sleeping Venus by Italian painter Giorgione represent just a handful of the images featured.

Jezebel’s Kelly Faircloth writes, "The last precious days of summer are waning but you could do worse to maximize these last afternoons of warmth than watch this mesmerizing new lyric video for the Rolling Stones’ “She’s a Rainbow,” guaranteed to make you yearn for a beach on which to blaze it while wearing a caftan."
Recorded and released as a single in 1967, and included on their album Their Satanic Majesties Request that same year, “She’s a Rainbow” was somewhat of a departure from the r&b-influenced Rolling Stones sound. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, the recording features Mellotron by the late Brian Jones, piano by outside collaborator Nicky Hopkins and string arrangement by John Paul Jones, who would go on to found Led Zeppelin the following year.
