As many albums that Neil Young, now 71, has released since bursting on the music scene as a member of Buffalo Springfield more than 50 years ago, there continues to be new treasures the living legend has to share.

Today comes word that an album recorded in a single day back in 1976 with his producer David Briggs, will be released Sept. 8, 2017. Hitchhiker gave rise to a number of future classics, including "Powderfinger," "Ride My Llama" and "Pocahontas" (all of which would appear on the 1979 disc Rust Never Sleeps).

In addition to the original versions of those classic cuts, Hitchhiker also features the previously-unreleased "Give Me Strength" and "Hawaii."
