Sights and Sounds: Walter Trout and John Mayall, Gary Clark Jr., Erasure

Walter Trout / John Mayall 7-Inch For Record Store Day

Walter Trout and John Mayall have a long history of collaboration that dates back to the 1960s.  From Walter playing in John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, through collaborations as recently as WT’s most recent album.  To celebrate their relationship, the duo present this double A-side split 7-inch.  This special edition Black Friday exclusive is limited to 1000 copies and features “Willie” by Walter Trout and “World Gone Crazy” from John Mayall.


Gary Clark Jr. to premiere new video for "When My Train Pulls In" on Nowness.com on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014

Video was directed by buzzed-about director Carmela Makela

Gary Clark Jr. will premiere a new video for his track "When My Train Pulls In," from his debut album Blak And Blu, on NOWNESS.COM beginning December 1st.

The video, a seven-minute long narrative that feels more like a short film, was directed by up-and-coming director Carmela Makela. The daughter of design studio founders Laurie Haycock Makelaand the late graphic and multimedia designer Scott Makela, Carmela is known for her provocative work, having previously shot a steamy video for Atmosphere's "Ain't Nobody."

 
For "When My Train Pulls In," Makela assembled a talented team that includes established cinematographer Steve Annis, who has shot videos for UNKLE, Temper Trap, Calvin Harris, The XX, and Florence & The Machine, and rising actor Keith Stanfield, who appeared in the indie filmShort Term 12 and stars in the upcoming civil rights film Selma, plus biopics about Miles Davis and N.W.A. On set, Carmela created a unique, family work ethic, bringing her vision to a high level of craft and emotional power.


ERASURE unveils live music video for "Reason"

"Reason" EP is available this week

ERASURE (Andy Bell and Vince Clarke) has unveiled a celebratory live video of their latest single “Reason.”  This week marks the release of the “Reason” EP, featuring the heartfelt anthem, backed with pulsating remixes from the likes of ParraloxCarter Tutti, JRMX, GRN, Jochen Simms, and an exclusive B-side entitled “Die 4 Love.” “Reason” comes from the critically acclaimed, Richard X produced, albumThe Violet Flame, out now on Mute.

Fans have a chance to create their own remix of the track “Sacred,” courtesy of Blend.  The winner of the competition will have his/her remix included in the official release of “Sacred,” in addition to snagging a copy of limited edition vinyl of The Violet Flame. Entries will be accepted through the end of December, and a winner will be chosen in January 2015.  For more details, click here.
 
Erasure has returned to the UK for The Violet Flame Tour. The tour follows the acclaimed US tour, and the UK leg includes two London shows at the Forum on December 14th and 15th. Parralox will support on December 15th, while support on first night comes from Iris Gold. The year will then end with two special New Year’s Eve shows at New York’s Terminal 5 on December 30th and 31st (full details below). Tickets are on sale now, http://www.erasureinfo.com/concerts/
