With six albums to their credit and a word-of-mouth reputation that draws legions of diehard fans to their must-see-to-believe live shows, Minnesota roots music hybrid, Trampled by Turtles release their first live concert recording Live At First Avenue. The set was captured over 3 sold out nights celebrating their 10th anniversary at the legendary Minneapolis venue, First Avenue. This collection features songs from all six of Trampled’s albums, including hits "Wait So Long" and "Alone" as well as fan favorites “Codeine” and Trampled's version of the Pixies’ classic, “Where is My Mind?”. Digital cable and satellite television network Palladia will air the concert multiple times starting the week before street date and continuing for one year.
Acclaimed band Trampled by Turtles continue to receive praise for their live show and last studio albumStars and Satellites. The band has performed on “Conan,” “The Prairie Home Companion,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” TBT's recent touring schedule has included high profile slots at Bonnaroo, ACL, Lollapalooza, Bumbershoot, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, LouFest, XPoNential Festival culminating with a massive headline show at the Minnesota State Fair with 9K home state fans cheering them on. Formed in Duluth, MN, in 2003, Trampled by Turtles is Dave Simonett (guitar, vocals), Tim Saxhaug (bass, vocals), Dave Carroll (banjo, vocals), Erik Berry (mandolin) and Ryan Young (fiddle, vocals). Within the contained music scene of Duluth, the members of the band did their own time in punk and rock bands, brandishing their electricity proudly before switching to acoustic instruments. While they never set out to be a “bluegrass” band, Trampled by Turtles employs many of the same traditional techniques of the genre, but their differences in influences, attitude and attack make for their unique sound.

Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings Are Back. . . with a new record, a new video and a monumental show!
This past spring, Daptone Records had just announced the August release of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings’ Give the People What They Want when Sharon Jones was diagnosed with cancer. The scheduled release and supporting tours were immediately put on hold and all efforts were quickly shifted to her treatment and recovery. It brings great joy and relief to announce that after a successful operation, ongoing treatment, and the continued support of friends, family, and fans, Sharon Jones is back.
Give the People What They Want is scheduled to drop January 14, 2014, followed by Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings’ triumphant return to the stage on February 6th at the Beacon Theater in New York City, their first show in nearly a year.
For over a decade, the band has traveled the world, blowing minds with their explosive live performances and their raw, hand-crafted studio recordings. While other artists have ridden the crests and troughs of passing fads, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings have bypassed the hype-and-hit superhighway and taken a detour straight to the hearts and bodies of their listeners, transcending fleeting trends and demographics and delivering a visceral rhythm and soul sound to an ever expanding base of deeply loyal fans. Give the People What They Want is poised to become not only an iconic album from a prolific band, but a fixture in the cannon of Soul Music.
The album lifts off with “Retreat!” an up-tempo stomper with ominous, thundering arrangements, and marches directly into the pulsing Detroit-flavored soul of “Stranger To My Happiness” before easing back down into the mellow feel-good anthem “We Get Along.” Track after track, Give the People What They Want delivers every bit of unbridled soul and studio acumen that defines this bands’ universally loved sound.

Fresh off a three-week run of North America supporting Travis, New York City quartet, Rathborne, has announced a two-week run of dates supporting Albert Hammond Jr. in the Midwest and west coast, starting November 11. First though, Rathborne returns home to celebrate the release of SOFT in stores October 15 and perform during this year's CMJ Music Marathon, Oct. 17 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg (8 p.m.) and Pianos (11:30 p.m.) and 18 at Pianos (10 p.m.).
SOFT is a record that never stops moving, bounding from one jagged-edged song to the next, marrying the fast-and-loose ethos of No Age with the unhinged garage-pop of Ty Segall and the melodic ease of classic R.E.M. and Big Star. Produced by Rathborne and Emery Dobyns (Antony & the Johnsons, Battles, Noah & the Whale), with mixing and co-production by Gus Oberg and Albert Hammond, Jr., the record nestles honey-sweet hooks inside tangles of guitar and Darren Will's percolating bass.
