One of the most successful artists to emerge in the 1970s is making an eagerly-anticipated return to The Coach House tonight (Feb. 24).America will likely deliver a mix of well-known classics such as “A Horse With No Name,” “Ventura Highway,” “Sister Golden Hair” and “Tin Man,” as well as songs from the group’s most recent albums at the concert.
Led by founding members Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, America continues to surprise and please audiences more than four decades after the group’s launch in 1970. America’s most recent studio album Back Pages was released in 2011 and found the band offering up artful remakes of material from the likes of the Zombies (“Time of the Season”), Bob Dylan (“My Back Pages”), Paul Simon (the apt gem “America”) and even Fountains of Wayne (“A Road Song”).
The group’s career has seemingly come full circle with the 2012 release of “Live at the Troubadour,” a collection released by Time Life that features new, acoustic versions of the folk rock group’s biggest hits recorded lives at the Troubadour club in Los Angeles. The Grammy Award-winning group was honored on Feb. 6 when they were given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
